Just curious how people use manage their Downloads folder. I have music, school documents, .dmgs, etc, etc, that span all the way back to when I first bought my macbook. I don't know if there's really any point in keeping all of these files, I may do some spring cleaning and clear it all.

It completely depends on your preferences as to whether or not you leave files in your Downloads folder, or how they're organized. What works for others may not work for you, so you're better off deciding how you want to manage your own files and folders.

I deal with the files in Downloads as soon as possible and then clear the folder. This sometimes means moving files to a "to do" folder. It's just my way of keeping things organized.

I'm downloading everything to my Desktop instead.
Since I hate having files on my Desktop, this way I'm forcing myself to deal with stuff asap :D

I am completely anal about stuff like this. After I use a downloaded file for its intended purpose, I immediately delete it.

I'm so horrible about it, my habits ended up being the same on my iOS devices. I have stuff littered all over the place. I've actually made the plans to take this weekend and deal with it, and have. :D

I remember when the Desktop was the default downloads folder. Good times those. LOL.

Delete it. Wasted space, since most Apps can be downloaded again and again. Unless you have TimeMachine ignore the download folder, it just gets piled on with your backups.

My one is completely empty too. Everything is moved directly and if I need any old files I might have deleted - Time Machine.
