According to folks who know me in person, I've got a pretty keen sense of smell. So you'd think I'd be most likely to avoid smells I dislike... but I don't... always.

Like, if I catch a whiff of something stinky, I'll often go back and smell it again. And maybe again. I mean, I do have a slight masochistic streak in me, but somehow, I don't think that really explains this.

Recent example? Some soup and rice (and meat) that went bad. In a bowl, on the kitchen counter. It smelled awful. Yet I purposefully lifted the cover off to give it a proper sniff. And was thoroughly disgusted. :p

Does anyone else do this? Do you?

i do. it isn't because i like smelling bad smells, though. i'm usually smelling it again (and again) to try and figure what that smell reminds me of, regardless of how nasty that smell might be. but yeah, i'm likely to give these things a second whiff.

Oh yeah, that can be fun at times. Almost like daring yourself :)

It's not something I ever do but then again my sense of smell is so poor it's bordering on the non-existent. :(
You sort of lucked out on the senses front didn't you? Can you feel things when you touch them? :p

I do have a very good sense of hearing though, I'm quite good when it comes to hearing really faint, quiet stuff.

Sorry? Did someone say something? ;)

What you say about daring yourself, though... I'm kind of like that with taste. If I think something's going off – like milk, say – then because I can't smell it I'll just have a taste.

My hearing is so off. You could be standing next to me shouting and I'll be all, "What? Wait, what'd you say?" (Although in your case, it's probably 'cause I'm trying to decipher what you're saying through your accent. :p)

Actually, there was a girl at my high school who literally lost her sense of smell due to an accident. She always smelled awful. Nobody had the heart to tell her. Pity as she was gorgeous to look at. :D

I taste because... I dunno. No good reason, same as w/ the sniffing. Mebbe I'm lazy? Hoping my nose is wrong and the food can still be consumed? Teehee.

:( how sad...i would have told her she smelled awful. ;)

See, that's something I worry about – having bad breath or smelly feet and not knowing about it because, well... I can't smell it.

Luckily, Miss Jaffa Cake doesn't allow any sort of slovenly behaviour when it comes to personal hygiene so everything's all right on that front. ;)

Jaffa doesn't have an accent. He's just stuck in a permanent Andy Sugden impression :D

Everyone smells their own farts :)

And if you're like me you don't actually notice them as smelling bad. It's just other people's that are stinky :D

it seems i read somewhere (or was probably told by someone who didn't know what he was talking about) that there is something to your own fart that actually makes you like the smell.......and the same with gasoline.

That's interesting. I do have a tendency to be drawn to the smell of gasoline and other petroleum based products. I love the smell of lighter fluid and laquer thinner.

I like smelling my own farts so I can gauge how much torture I'm inflicting on those around me, the smellier the better :D

While chewing on some garlic and onion just for irony of course;):p

What? Gasoline doesn't smell bad:confused:

I love the smell of gasoline. I just hope it doesn't cause brain damage:eek:
