Walk the dog on the beach 2 or 3 times a day for anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and a half depending on the weather and the state of the tide. I'm just not a masochist, I hate having to walk in the soft sand if the tide's in.

I usually get my exercise from running with my dog or playing frisbee/fetch. It's pretty amusing so it's not that bad. Other than that, I ride Cross-Country on my Mtn. Bike with some friends and that's a lot of fun and challenging.

I find the best way to exercise is to have a partner, because it's way too easy to say, "Ahh, I'll do it tomorrow." Where as if you have a friend (or a Dog) you have made a commitment and you 'have' to go. That's how I see it at least.

I do about an hour of sweaty yoga every morning, walk to work and back ( 20 minutes each way) and take a stroll at lunchtime while I decide where to get takeout. I'm also up and down the stairs 20 times a day. I have projects over two floors and the stairs are faster than the elevator. I also like to keep my home clean and tidy.

I try and do 3 full body weight training session's a week plus 2-3 runs of 3-4 miles on the other days (Nike+ has been awesome), I pretty much always take saturdays off.....

I used to do some kickboxing as well, but haven't in a while its something that would be great to get back into,

HEALTH QUESTION & ANSWER SESSION

Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true?
A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain...Good !

Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?
A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: Are you crazy? HELLO Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It's the best feel-good food around!

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.

Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!

I like this person!

I'm still skinny but getting a little soft in the mid. I need to get back on my bike again. I really enjoy it when I do!

Does indoor climbing count as an exercise? If so, yes I try to do that every week. And then quickly home afterwards, back to my comfy chair and powerbook... MacRumors, fredmiranda, nu.nl...

Badminton is very fun! It's not funny to play against someone who's infinitely better than you, but if you play against someone on the same level, it's great.

I don't do gyms, but I walk Bart three times a day, walk to where I'm going as much as possible, and do some free weights to keep up some upper body strength.

I used to swim three or four times a week before we got Bart. I also used to dive a hell of a lot more than I do now.

I run every other morning for 30-45 minutes and play badminton with my mom most days.

I wish I exercised more. I'm not as large as I once was, but i'm still around 220 at 5'7".

I try to walk once a day and do a mile or two just to keep moving. I did do a lot of walking this summer as I worked at a day camp, so I lost quite a bit doing that.

I just don't have the money or the time to go to a fitness center or to run or jog every morning. I wish I could go and do it, but I just don't have the motivation.

And I don't think it would make a difference if I exercised a lot or not. Everyone in my family is large and there's no getting away from that. It's definitely a genetics thing for me. But I know I'm no where near as bad as other people are and that I'm much healthier than a lot of people, even in my pudgy state.

from the spring of 1987 until last month, i was a part time and full time, at different times, landscaper and gardener and i was in rather good shape...and most importantly, rather strong

but now, after nearly 20 years, i will, for the next 15-20- years or more, be at more sedate type of jobs working from home or office

i just hope i don't become morbidly obese and pathetically weak, like most office workers i have encountered in the last 35 years around where i live

maybe there is an area in the usa where office workers are 300-500 pounds but because of the water, or a special whole foods market, are still able to do martial arts and triathalons and have a very, very healthy sex life ;)

I usually workout for about 35-40 minutes 3-4 days a week on my lunch break. We have a company gym in our building with very nice equipment, which definately helps. Lately I've been doing about 10-15 minutes on the crosstrainer followed by various weight training workouts. I'm really enjoying it, and hoping I don't get burnt out on it (again) anytime soon.

I'm also considering trying out lap swimming, as I remember that being a blast.

I do. I burn about 4500 calories per week. I don't know if that is a lot or a little, they say it's good. There are 3500 calories in a pound so I guess that's good. Considering I only have on average 1000 calories a day, I guess that's real good.
I usually do some sort of kick boxing aerobics, no bag. That's at home usually. I walk alot, I'm going to start running when it's feasible. I also do the ski machine and cycle. I really need to do more exercise though, probably add weights in there to help build lean muscle. I don't want huge muscles, but I need my mid-section to be a bit stronger and my back could use some work.

I use the treadmill for 5-10 minutes for warmup, then hit the weights for 1.5 hours. This happens every other day. Occasionally I'll take a few days off, up to a week, but any more and I'll get withdrawl symptoms. It's not quite an addiction, but regular lifting is part of my life and has been for 15 years. No injuries; thank the personal trainers for helping me get it right.

Wow- glad you think this is funny. Wait til you're a few years older. I don't find this country's lack of fitness funny at all. I think it's sad, especially when I visit Europe and everyone looks great. Do yourself a favor and dispense with the excuses and spend that energy getting yourself healthier.

i usually play basketball everynight fo about three to four hours.

if i dont play basketball that night then ill run a couple miles

Used to be in very good shape, then injuries sidelined me. Afterwards, sitting in front of this computer just about did me in. Started rehabilitating myself slowly about 6 months ago. I've lost 26lbs so far mainly by watching diet and light cardio at the gym (3-4 times 30-45min) and occassionaly biking in the woods. Hope to loose another 10-15lbs before thanksgiving rears its tasty self. :D

I have one or two months bursts where I go to the gym every day and lift weights. I guess that's not regular, but nonetheless I am regularly sporadic.

I play ultimate frisbee a lot. Best game ever. =] Works up a good sweat, too.

I have no clue how to get abs. I have the Asian anti-fat gene, and I exercise enough that my resting heart rate is in the 40s, but no abs. :( (But thankfully no tummy.)

<= The birth of this one, and graduate school managed to suck up any time I had for working out for the last 2 years. About a year ago a new gym opened up fairly close to home. My wife joined at a nice cheap promotional rate (that won't go up) and about a week after she joined she finally mentioned that I could join for even cheaper than she was paying since she was a member. I joined figuring that the price was worth it even if I only worked out for one month out of every three.

I kept meaning to go in between classes but something always seemed to come up. Finally about 2 weeks ago I finally went. I go on class nights after work. Since I usually work pretty late on those nights I have to delay getting home to avoid the trauma of the little girl seeing me for 10 minutes before bed. If I'm not there, she goes to sleep much easier. So instead I go and hit the gym for a little over an hour. I do about 20 minutes of cardio, 45-60 minutes on upper body weights, and then another 15-20 minutes of cardio to cool down/remain active so I don't end up too stiff the next morning. If all goes well I'll keep up the workout until this last class is done in early December and then I can hopefully keep it up with the extra time available once class is over.

Meh.

*notes dispensed excuses, nods righteously*

Exercise is for the bedroom. When I'm not exercising, I try to run a few km every second day or so. I also do some sprint training (track) every now and then. If possible, I walk instead of drive.

Badminton's a great sport and workout if you know what you're doing. It's not just a backyard kid's game, it's an actual Olympic sport. There's no shame in playing it. I remember a study that said badminton players actually tend to run more than tennis players in a match.

As for me, I go to the gym on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays after school. Run a mile, then spend about 30 minutes freeweight training (small weights, heaviest I use is 12 lbs).

Before I went to the gym I would work out at home, just simple stretching and fitness exercises. But thanks to that and eating more my body has become much leaner and I've gained about 8 pounds in the last two months.
