Disagree. These features are not what make the iPhone revolutionary. There features that make the iPhone a better experience for the user and convenience. The features you have listed are upgrades that come with improving the iPhone annually in terms of build and maturity of technology. The iPhone has always been a slower process in with adopting the latest technology, but The iPhone is a seamless experience because of how well everything meshes together.
Exactly my idea!
Apple doesn’t put in a 5000ppi display because it is made, or facial because it is possible.
they will put it in when the display is better, but also energy efficient enough. They will put in facial if they can make it better then touchid.
I remember Jony Ivy going on and on and on about corners and radius and the feeling of them. It was almost annoying. But it’s also the perfection that they are after that is fascinating. And it is what you often notice in their products. They do not just strive to make the best of the rest nor best at a price point, they reach for perfection.
And they are not perfect, they are a (very) commercial enterprise, yet IMHO they are much better then many others.
They introduce software features when they see fit. And that is annoying when my brother in law sees the new iPhone 8 and says that his 3 year old phone has all those features. But then ask again how useful they are and the answer is “meh”. Then ask how many times he needs to boot his phone because it got stuck, or that it just restarts out of it’s own.

Another thing. If Google brings out a security update, how many phones models will have that within a month? Most likely only the nexus and one models. 80% of Androids never get the update and the remaining 19.8% of android phones take 3-12 months before they get a security update. And this is not google’s fault, certainly not, but for me that rules out almost all android phones. I want a phone that is as secure as possible. Android certainly isn’t just because of the manufacturers laziness.

Also the hardware of many phones is a ramshackle. They grab a octa-core processor. Why? Well, it has 8 cores man! 500ppi+ display. But why would you do that if it sucks the life out of your battery? And then the integration of parts, the care that has been going into the design. And if it goes wrong, try to get a good customer service experience. It might be different in the states, but over here in Europe it’s horrible. Try to get a repair/swap on a Samsung tablet, impossible. And when they finally do (after a threatening letter from a lawyer) it takes months to get it repaired.
Coworker of mine got an iPhone 7 through his provider. Provider was crap to get service from. Apple said: no problem, it’s less then one year old, we will send you a new phone, please return the old one within 2 weeks. It’s still no fun to have to go trough customer service because it takes time. But they make it as pain free as possible.

so I believe that Apple will make the best phone ever. It might not have every feature there is out there, but it will be the best smart phone ever.

With all the rumors so far?
I think it will be more surprising than the iPhone 4 when first introduced.
The iPhone edition will definitely revolutionary as all next iPhone generations will be designed and innovated based on the edition version. Kudos to Apple!!

Yes, it will be the biggest advance in iPhone since the original iPhone. But it will NOT be called "iPhone Edition".

i hope i don't get hate for this but as much i love and am a loyal apple fan but no i don't think it's gonna be revolutionary there won't be anything like that from an iPhone for years to come unless they come up with something really big that not even lg or samsung phones come out with but i don't see it... only thing revolutionary that comes to mind in my opinion is the nintendo switch. thats my take on it.

It'll be revolutionary compared to other iPhones, like Tim Cook puts it for the iPhone 7 'best its ever made'.
Unfortunately it sounds like current speculation technical difficulties fail to overcome may require "swipe to unlock" due to not being able to build TouchID into the display. Still, Apple will call it revolutionary and everyone here including me will think the same compared to other iPhones. My hope is it will give the V30 and the Galaxy 8 Plus a run for their money.

It’s a phone, not sure we should be using revolutionary. That being said, I think it’s a step forward for Apple’s phone design and probably the biggest change we have seen yet. It’s an obvious change and one step closer to their ultimate goal.

I think what will be revolutionary is the 3D facial recognition system within this new iPhone, people have already counted it out and underestimated it because facial recognition has been used before and they are judging it based on what others have done, such as Samsung but I think it's going to be different, more secure and from what we've heard it unlocks really fast.

I think it's going to be like Touch ID was, other companies had fingerprint readers before the iPhone 5s but it was Apple who made them great with Touch ID, if they are taking a gamble of removing Touch ID in this next iPhone then they are confident that "Face ID" can replace it, I'm looking forward to seeing what they announce even tho a lot has leaked, but I doubt we know everything.

A lot of what you're describing is known as marketing, which Apple is very good at executing. Naturally, every year, Apple says the the current iPhone is the best iPhone they have ever made, because they truly believe this based on the current technology it incorporates. Same techniques will be applied to the iPhone 8 when it releases. Apple will sell this technology in any form possible to the consumer, because they want to highlight the most noteable features during the Keynote.

AR will be revolutionary in my opinion, especially with a 3D sensing cam. Its the next big thing for phones.

But i dont think apple can claim this revolution as their own, even if they happen to bring the best implementation of it to the market. Because even without Apple this is going to be big.

Is the next iPhone rumoured to have a 3D sensing camera? i thought it was just a 3D facial recognition system i didn't know the camera itself was going to be 3D for actual user use. If that is the case then yes that would be revolutionary along with the 3D facial recognition system, i also think AR is going to be great, developers will probably have created apps by now (AR kit was announced a few months ago at WWDC) to be used with the next iPhone.

I highly doubt it. We've had so many features flood the market in the last 3 years I think it's more a case of Apple joining the party late. Apart from perhaps facial recognition the way it's rumoured, I haven't seen a single leak that we haven't seen before.

No doubt Tim and Jony will present it like we've never seen it before though. I will assess my options next year and certainly won't be paying a grand for a mobile phone.
