I've been living without gel for the past idk how many years. Now school's finished I can do what I want to my hair without any no-gel rule.

But I haven't been using gel, rather just plain water. I have an impression that ordinary gel makes my hair hard, and the "stay-wet" gels and mousse will smudge onto clothes. Is that true?

Not really a "sticky situation" but I'd just like to know whether gelling your hair is part of your morning routine. :)

Nah. I've tried it before but it doesnt work too well with my hair.

I can't live without it.. my hair is really curly and would rule the world with an iron fist (or follicle) if I'd let it.
That said, I don't like the hard or crunchy feeling of most hard-core gel products. I use something called "curl creme" by a company called Bumble & Bumble. I get it from the salon where I get my hair cut, so I'm not sure if there's a place where you could get it locally. You could look it up HERE if you're interested.
It's a bit greasy when first applied, but it quickly dries to that perfect "wet" look without getting crunchy. I love the stuff.
Good luck! :D

I gel it when its short, wax when it's getting longer, nothing when it's past my eyes... Seems to keep itself in shape and control then.

Bumble and bumble make a grooming creme that is really excellent, but I found it to be really expensive.

I use American Crew products. Specifically, I use their pomade. I like it because it doesn't get all hard like gel, and unlike other pomades, its not made with petroleum jelly, so just a bit of water and its like its not there, and its not greasy. The same company makes a lot of different products, and I'd recommend giving them a look. When I did use gel, I even thought there's was the best for the same reason I gave above: it washes out incredibly easy.

Tried gel, didn't like it much, so I basically just comb it out and hope for the best...

I don't use anything and still have a rather outstanding hair look.

Here is a picture, you can see a part of my hair:

I can very easily do that with my hair; instead, I fight my hair. :p

Nope, not anymore. Have tried it a few times but it was not me. The only time when I get the gel is when I go for a haircut and the cutter automatically lathers some on. I usually water it out at home later in the day.

I'm making the transition from no gel to gel to no product whatsoever. If you really want to go no wax, then go out and buy a clippers and take it all down to 1 inch or less (a 1/4 inch shorter on the sides for style).

Personally, I can't wait until I'm past the gel stage and the hair sits properly under its own weight. In the mean time, the gel provides some much needed lift so that I don't look as creepy.
