Never had first batch issues and I've had every phone on launch except the first iPhone which I got later.

It's sporadic more than batch.

I've always preordered to have it on launch day. Last year I stood in line since there were no preorders. I'm hoping for a preorder this year but I wouldn't mind waiting in line. It was a fun experience.

I just (pre-)order online when it becomes an option. I don't care about having it exactly on launch day but I like getting one close to it.

I like to pre order online. I have yet to go wait in line for an Apple product.

I preordered the iPhone 5 and got it 1 day after launch. The only iDevice I ever waited in line fir was the 1st iPad mini. I got to the Appke store 30 minutes before it opened and was the 10th person in line.

I got my 5s about 5 weeks after it came out. I wanted to see the gold in person to decide between the silver and gold, so waited until the crowds died down. Then I wanted the gold so had the longest wait until the store had it in. The day I got it, the rep said was the first time they'd had the gold (or any great quantity of the silver models.)

On the day the 5S was released last September, I walked past the insane Apple Store queues on my way into work, worked a full day, popped into Carphone Warehouse on my way home just to ask when the 5S might next be back in stock and bought one there and then. No queuing whatsoever - was the strangest thing!

This.

I set my alarm for 3AM on launch/preorder day, order within 5 minutes, back to bed, done.

It seems silly to me to waste my time and wait in line :D

I do the same thing. I just hope they allow for preorders this time. I want nothing to do with waiting in line.

After a raft of iPhone 5 models with loose volume buttons, and having to live with one that started out with loose volume buttons and the power button soon followed, I will absolutely not tolerate any flaws with my iPhone6. That's the reason I won't buy online again. I'm examining it before I leave the shop. I'll buy as soon as one becomes in stock, I won't queue up for it though.

With the 5S and 4S I preordered them as soon as they were available. This time around I'm planning to hold off a few months in regards to the 6 or even skip it altogether. I'm pretty content with my 5S and not buying another phone keeps my bill lower.

But that all could change depending on what Apple offers with the iPhone 6. If it blows me away I'll buy it day one.

My next is up in January so either that or February if they're out of stock. Their is other upgrades on my plan but rather not have any more next payments. Usually never have an upgrade on launch day.

Rumor is that there will be two iphone this season. Unless they release the same time; I just have to wait to see how they compare to one another.

I hate to buy the first and see that the second is much better! I guess I could return it within 30 days and switch?

Now I don't think Apple would approve of that! ;)

Buy both and give the one you don't care for to friend or family! It's in the end user license agreement. :p

I use to have to have it on launch day, but now I know better.

I'm on the "s" upgrade cycle and will only order months after the fact, from now on.

iPhone original: Got off eBay maybe a year after it came out.
iPhone 4: Got when I switched from T-Mobile to AT&T so was about 2 months late to the party.
iPhone 5: Definitely one of the first people to pre-order it online at 3 am est or whatever it was. I remember the iPhone app worked before the website to pre-order. The forums were going wild. :D

I like having the latest tech ASAP so I'll prolly stay up to order late at night again. I am up until 2 or 3 am most nights anyways so it's not really a big deal anyways. Like tonight, it's 3 am and I'm just browsing forums. Heh
