Just curious as I’m one who uses their iPad at home 99% of the time so I’m wondering if I need it. I guess it’s good peace of mind if I drop it or something. Those of you who got the new Air, are you getting AC+?

I own an iPad Pro, and it never leaves the house. But, I still purchased Apple Care (not the one with the stolen option).

I had my old iPad 6 screen replaced twice because some backlights started failing after a while and on both times I got it replaced one-for-one for free. So from that lesson I'm definitely getting AppleCare+. The lower cost of AppleCare+ of the non-Pro iPads is what tips the new Air in favour to me over the 2020 Pro.
I never have. I’ve had 5 different iPads, two of them were the 12.9” pros. Never needed it. I think it’s just a waste of money on them. My iPad never leaves the house.
Even though the odds of damage happening to my iPads, I always get Applecare+. Peace of mind!

I didn’t in the past because as others have noted it’s not something that generally leaves your house much (depending on lifestyle) but my 10.5 iPad Pro developed a bright spot on it. Somehow managed to get it replaced abs even that has a bright spot. It’s from a swollen battery I think. After that I will - and given the air model Apple care is cheaper will take advantage of that.
Nope. I've never purchased AC+ for any of the Apple devices that I have owned over the past 15 years. I've never had the opportunity to be able to take advantage of it if I had. I've saved $1000's as a result.
As for whether or not YOU need it... only you can determine that. How accident prone are you? My adult daughter is very accident prone and having AC+ would save her money if she purchased it (which she rarely does).
I do. But I also use my iPad at work (when I’m not working from home due to COVID) and for me, work is a science classroom, so stuff can happen.
What happens to Apple Care+ if within the 2-year timeframe the iPad is traded in to the Apple store (not selling outside privately on eBay etc)?
One advantage of Apple Care + with the iPad Pro or iPad Air 4 is if you purchase the MK and Pencil 2 It also covers them under the same plan, no additional charge.

Apple care + is refundable but it degrades by time. All this information is on the Apple website
your not going to get a full refund of the original purchase price 1 year in to the two additional years. You will get about half back.
Basically a prorated refund, it is better and cheaper to start with a 2 year-contract than a monthly one. My Xs Max is on monthly AC+ because 2 years expired and I'm paying $11 a month (will cancel in 2 months) with tax.
Ok. Thanks. So, this means if I trade in my current iPad, which has Apple Care+, the remainder cannot be carried onto the new iPad that I may buy. I will get a refund of the remaining time instead.

I did get AppleCare for my MacBook Pro and iPhone. I’ve never had good luck with laptops and I’ve dropped my iPhones more then once in my life.

Totally subjective. I have it on my gen 2 pro and hav had it replaced once already due to touch screen sensitivity issues so I find value in it for t more expensive models.
The fact that refurbished devices from Apple qualify for AppleCare+ is fantastic IMO, as it allows one to buy into a product line mid cycle once available refurbished and parlay the savings into the additional coverage.
