My PB Ti is used almost exclusively as a desktop replacement. Pretty much it does not leave my desk, but the times I have thought it would be good to work on it sat in the park or set up in a library, I just thought what a pose.

So why get a laptop? If you moved between two desks i could *kinda* understand but considering the premium you pay for laptops - why not just get a desktop if you're not going to use the portability?

I am semi nomadic and dont drive, so I need a portabe desktop. I stay 3 to 6 months in one place working at a desk in the evening, teaching and cycling like a *wat in the day. So when I move on, I basically post a few books and meagre possessions to my next address, pack my rucksack with my clothes, stick a laptop under my arm and head off. Nightmare scenario having to do that with a tower and monitor. Of course Id love to have a twin processor and bigger monitor for similar money, but for me it isnt practical.
