After watching the original video, it's not a very good example of 4k. Checkout the video at the link below (you have to download it by clicking "Stahnout" below the video). The file should be 264.7 MB for 43 seconds. It's a much better 4k example with a 120 Mbit/s bitrate.

Great sample video, thank you. On a 15 rMBP Quicktime chokes big time on this video, especially in full screen. On the other hand it plays buttery smooth in VLC player.

Vegetarians should also be warned before watching this video btw lol. The duck looks succulent!

Verizon FiOS is horrible with youtube so i took a long time to download.

for those who cant download directly from youtube. The sample I got from youtube is 3k resolution as that was the highest YT was serving...

nice

Sure does look nice. My 29MB cable connection seems to stream it fine in real time. It DOES totally spike the connection though and doesn't buffer more than a couple seconds ahead.

One can certainly see the difference between 1080p and 4K, although I'm not sure how they got the 1080p version - if they filmed in 4K. If they down rez'd it, that might be where some of the loss in the 1080p quality is.

I'm not convinced this is the future though. Certainly moving from SD to HD was a winner for nearly anyone. Moving from HD to UDH, I'm not so sure.

I'm amazed.

Just compared the same videos on a Sony Vaio, and my rMBP. To me it was night and day.

MeBird reckons she couldn't tell the difference.

Looked fantastic on my non rMBP at "original" with a 100/100 Link . I can't fathom what it looks like on a rMBP
