I have a few skeletons, but it is way too embarassing to bring them to the light of day.

But I do have a few stories that came to light in our family tree.

1. My great uncle was kidnapped during the depression. They thought my grandfather had lots of $ and would pay the ransom. My grandfather had a nice big house, but no cash. My great uncle was such a miserable s.o.b. that the kidnappers gave up after two days and let him go!

2. An ancestor during the Revolutionary war sided with the rebels. The rebels would steal horses from the tories for use in the war. So, in fact, one of my ancestors was a horse thief! He met an unfortunate end, he was killed by a group of tories while he was on leave to plant the fields.

3. Another ancestor was a woman who landed with her husband on the east coast in the early 1600's. They landed in a relatively isolated area. They were attacked by local indians. Her husband was killed. She was severely beaten, but an older woman in the tribe had compassion on her and nursed her back to health. She eventually got to civilization, and later married again and raised a family.

4. One relative was in the German royal family in the 1800s. She fell in love with a man, but her family did not approve. She left, married her man, and immigrated to the US. The family back home disinherited her and broke off all contact.

Crazy goings on!

Lots of skeletons in my closet.

1. Dad was never adopted, so I am living technically under false name.
Dad was a cattle rustler, moonshiner. He was best friends with a crime boss. Won't say where. Dad is dead now.

1a. Grandmother was married to Cherokee Chief for 1 year.

2. Uncle is a living bank robber still in action. Was moonshiner in Arkansas.

3. Once when I was driving truck back in the early 80's I gave a hitch hiker a ride who turned being wanted by Interpol for Bank Robbery in Belgium and for pretending to being a retired New Zealand Naval Officer, he was from New Zealand. Immigration got him in New Mexico after he stole money from me. Yeah I turned him in for stealing from me.

4. 4th cousin to Jimmy Stewart.

5. Ex best friend in prison at the Super Max in Colorado for murdering 86 women across Arkansas and Oklahoma, he confessed to 86. NO it didn't know it.

6. Had great uncle in WWII that was shot in the head by SS for spying deep in the heart of Germany who survived and became big TV Preacher in the 50's and 60's..

That's mine.

Talking about skeletons in the closet...

...anybody here watch "Kings", the tv show?

It started kind of slow, about a royal family and their public and private issues around family and relationships, and got yanked from regular season viewing, but now it's become really good due to all the skeletons the characters have.

Any skeleton anybody pulls out to view in real life is likely to make it into this show. :)
