Only one. I figure it's a better deal to spend $120 replacing it in three years, if necessary, than to pay for another one off the bat that'll also be dead by then. And as others have said, that's cash that could be put toward drive or memory upgrades :^)

I agree. I've often thought about getting a 2nd battery, but due to the high price i'm not planning on getting one until after 2-3 years. Then i'll just keep the old one around until it fails to hold a charge. If I did a lot of traveling or worked while on the road I would get extra batteries, but most of the time my MacBook just sits on a stand tethered to AC power. The few times i've travelled (2 road trips), i've never had a need to use the laptop outside of a hotel, so i've never been somewhere that I actually had to rely on battery power.

I only have one as there is absolutely no need for me to have two batteries. The places where I use my MBP usually have power port.

I have two batteries for my MBP... the one that came with it, and one I bought from someone here on MR for cheap. There have been a couple of times when I've been away from an outlet long enough to run out one battery, so I had to shut down the machine and switch to the other.

My MacBook Air, obviously, will not have any spares. (Possible product idea for some enterprising person: An external battery that plugs into the MagSafe port?)

You know you don't have to shut down the machine to swap batteries. I had 2 batteries with my G4 Powerbook and all you have to do is close the lip making it sleep, swap the batteries, then open the lip and it's good to go. No need to shut down. I don't know how long you can leave it sleeping without a battery, but I never left it for more than a minute.

I only have one battery for my MBP. Since I'm seldom away from power that long, I doubt I'll ever get a second one.

When I run out of juice on my MBP that just means I need to take a break! One battery is enough thanks.

I sort of lied in my vote. I said I have three, but one of them isn't very functional, as it is down to 41% capacity. But, it is there if I ever find myself in a bind.

Since every MacBook Air review has noted the lack of user-replaceable battery as a negative point, I was just curious: how many current notebook owners actually have an extra battery? I'm not talking about people whose old battery ran out of juice but they still have it laying around, I'm talking about people who have two NEW batteries that they swap back and forth regularly in their notebooks; e.g. for extending battery life on cross-country trips, and so on.

I've thought about doing this, but in practical terms, it's a pain. Just keeping both batteries charged would be an exercise in logistics, and a separate charger is expensive -- and yet another item to pack.

I dont have a space battery. When mine starts to suck or dies, than ill buy a new one.
