Hi,

I shouldn't find a thread about it - sorry moderators if I didn't search correctly, please don't lock me outside - but I'm wondering if people here do have any tattoos. I self do have currently 17 tattoos and the design for number 18 is currently being made.

This is my most recent tattoo, part of my Pokémon leg.

I see more and more young people with gruesome tattoos all over their bodies. I wonder if they ever consider what those tattoos will like like as they grow older and their flesh begins to sag?
Yea, they might change a bit when you get older but I don't care. When I was working in a pool people asked if they can take pictures of my tattoos for their children.

I just have the Old Italian words:

Non mi snudare senza ragione. Non mi impugnare senza valore.
("Do not unsheathe me without reason. Do not wield me without valor.")

...I can't show you though, because it's tattooed somewhere I can't show on the Internet. 🐔

My wife has three tattoos, I do not. She wants more, I do not even want one. Not because I don't like them, but for two reasons.

1) I don't like pain. My wife gave natural birth with no meds to two kids. She did not cry. Get's her first tattoo and there are tears. Any thoughts I might have had at that point of having one I dismissed.

2) I have Psoriasis and have had it since I was 5. That's an autoimmune disease which causes your skin cells to die in 14 days instead of the normal 28. They pile up in patches that can look red and are scaly. Basically, your body can't shed the dead skin cells fast enough.

There is a thing with Psoriasis called the Koebner Effect. This effect basically states that whenever healthy skin is damaged and then heals, a Psoriasis patch will develop there.

I am not paying the expensive prices of a tattoo, only to have the Koebner Effect cause my Psoriasis to cover the tattoo up with scales.

Here is someone (not me) with Psoriasis on their knee and leg. You can see part of the tattoos they have on their leg, but most of it is the Psoriasis covering it up.

My Psoriasis is not that bad right now, but over 49 years I've had worse.

My alternative, which I have pursued since I was 19, is earrings. I'm 54 now and currently have nine earrings per ear. I'm about half way up the ear lobe. My last two, I got just three days ago. Much easier for me to deal with a momentary sharp jab, versus a needle constantly stabbing me multiple times over a larger portion of my body.

@eyoungren love the tattoo!
That's not his though, he's showing why he wouldn't get one as @eyoungren has psoriasis. I suffer from eczema myself which flares up and calms down depending on stress levels, weather etc.

I have seen many tattoos I quite like and others that make me scratch my head (yours is nice and positive) but it's "live and let live" for me.

I'm not into tattoos at all, but many of us end up with a body that can "tell a story" when we get old, so a few saggy looking tattoos just point to interesting times in the past.

Plus, it could even be a good incentive to stay fit for as long as possible, to delay the inevitable.

By the time someone discovers that, it's a bit too late isn't it? 😁

I have a small tattoo on my upper left arm and another on my right thigh. They're both text and they both don't show under normal circumstances. I'm not planning on getting more, but I feel like those are famous last words from people with tattoos 😅

Slippery Slope, from what I understand ;)
