Do you have notification badges on?

As part of the new notification Center in iOS 5, you're given many great customizable features, such as disabling badge notifications. One of the inconsistencies of the new notification Center is that when you clear something off of the notification Center list, the badge on the app icon remains there until you open the app. Whether this is a simple oversight on Apple's part or if there's another explanation, it's can be very frustrating.

Have you disabled badge notifications on your iOS 5 device?

What is your notification Center set up like? Do you have it organized by time or by the organization?

I have some off, some on.

I have it organized according to how much I care about that particular type of notification.

I have just a few select badges on and a handful of apps set to allow banners. I'm not using notification center so much, yet. I think it's a great idea, but at the moment it isn't doing much for me.

I have badges on for most apps in notification center. I also sort my apps by which I use more.

I hate badges. So glad they give you the option to turn them off. I only leave badges on for email.

Yes i do keep them on! Im way to used to it! Sometimes i miss the banners and don't check the NC all the time. I have 2 page of apps and it's really easy for me to notice the red badges!

Me too, except I have them all off. I leave text messages and mail messages unread all the time. Having the notification badge there 100% of the time was a waste for me. Being able to remove badges has made everything look cleaner.

Personally, I have ALL my badges off. This way, I just pull down the NC and see what notifications I have. The ones I need to respond to, I just tap from there and it takes me to the app.

The ones that don't need responding to - I just clear them from the NC and I don't see the badges anywhere so this way - they've been dealt with without going to the individual apps to clear the badges.

I have badges on but I hate that when I clear something on NC the badge alerts don't go away as well.

Thanks for all the replies. Some of you have inspired me to try something different --- so I've turned off all badges and I'm gonna try it out for a few days!

Yes, so I can easily see how many notifications I have for each app

I always hated badges! I am so OCD that I could never stand for there to be all those little red numbers all over my phone so I would have to clean them all up. Now, I only keep mail, texts, and phone on. Oh, yeah, I also have my Words with Friends badge on. :) Those get cleared immediately anyway, I didn't need to know how many Facebook friends had posted or how many times I was mentioned in a Tweet. I have been very happy with the new Notification Center abilities!

"Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges! I don't have to show you any stinkin' badges!"

Everything I have in Notification Center is set for banners. Of those only Phone and Messages show on the lock screen.

No way to turn off badges for the App Store though, which is really the one app I'd like to disable them for.

The badges are great to see if there are apps (such as messaging, task management, schedule, etc) that require my attention. In absence of widgets (like in Android, from which I recently migrated) I find the badges very useful with the side benefit of not killing your battery like Android widgets.

For a cool use of badges check out the Fahrenheit app that shows you the temperature as a badge... very widget like and useful.

    Badges

    Hi there!

I love the badges and I have them on for everything! But I'm having an issue with the Facebook badge and it's not showing up. It was working before, but then my Facebook wasn't showing my locations properly so I uninstalled and and reinstalled it, and then nothing worked :(. Now, Facebook gets the notification but I don't see the badge on my screen.

    My settings for Facebook notification:
    Notification Center: ON
    Show: 5 Recent Items
    Alert Style: Badge
    Badge App Icon: ON
    Sounds: ON
    View in Lock Screen: ON

    Please help!
