I Believe you have the option of toggling LTE on or off. At least that's what I have been reading from other reports.

Yes it will work just like any Apple Watch. You don't have to subscribe to a cell plan for it to work.

When you first pair your watch to an iPhone, there is now a step to activate the LTE feature. You can skip this step and activate LTE at a later time or not at all.

Note: If you purchase on an installment plan, you are required to activate service and keep it active for the duration of the installment plan.

Open the Watch app on your iPhone and go thru the LTE setup. It will be under General in the Watch app.

You might not get the 3 free months and the Activation credit, so it has an opportunity cost of ~$55 here in the US.

Each carrier has fine print, deals, etc... You should really ask your carrier about the fine details.
