Why would 4S that has worse hardware, less memory, and even slightly smaller battery actually get better battery life than a 5 in relation to all of this?

Beats me but it has been proven by ARS Technica that the iPhone 5 battery life has taken a nosedive with iOS7, and more so than any other iDevice.

But not necessarily due to anything related to animations/movement specifically, right?

I used reduce motion before 7.1, as it made my 5S feel notably faster. Now that the animation speed is comparable between the two options, I'll stick with the default. I think that the reduce motion animations still feel a little faster, but using them is a quite jarring to me now - my eyes have become used to following the movement.

Coming back to this:

Is there a way keep perspective zoom for the lock screen wallpaper and parallax effect on and turn-off the app animation while unlocking and closing an app.
Is this possible to do in 7.1?

For those that don't know... if you just turn off perspective zoom, it still moves the icons on the home screen and dialog boxes when you tilt your phone... so therefore, it's still using the accelerometer and therefore that option is useless.

No it isn't.
