Do you keep your iTunes (Music) library on the internal or external harddrive?

Do you keep your iTunes (Music) library on the internal or external harddrive? I personally have the 2017 macbook pro and it only has 128gb internal ssd, i currently have 83gb free, my iTunes library is about 48gb so if i was to have the iTunes library on the internal drive it would leave me with about 30gb free which i think is a bit too low, right?

I purchased a Samsung t5 1tb external portable SSD and placed my music library on it and the Music app on catalina is reading it beautifully so far

But to answer your question.... I can understand your situation but most folks who own a portable Mac will probably want to at least keep a small library on the internal drive. That's so they don't have to drag around an external hard drive with them when they're out and about.

A second library can always be created and kept on a larger external hard drive when at home. Holding down the option key when entering the Music app allows the choice of which library to use.

I keep all my music and recordings on my internal SSD. I have an iMac.

So when option clicking the music app, Which file should i look for? the Music Library.musiclibrary file or the iTunes Library.itl file? (When i moved my iTunes library from my other mac to this new mac with catalina i had to convert my iTunes library for the new Music app and the way i did it was by selecting the iTunes Library.itl)

I keep my music library on my server for all computers to access it. Although I have no need for it on a laptop. I've got my phone with me. Not that I use the library anymore. I just use Spotify now.

Been using a server for my iTunes library since Mac OS 9.

im on a external drive but my next laptop id like to get 2tb ssd or larger if prices come down
