this may be the wrong sub-forum? but not particularly, the on thing I'm still getting used to is the forums page with text everywhere seems to be very cluttered compared to the prior design and even notifications are kind of lengthy.

Yes, I love it and have been begging for it for some time.

If someone doesn't like it, go to the very bottom of any page and on the right-hand side, there is a theme chooser where one can pick a light-colored theme instead.

Appreciate the effort. Like fisherking says, you'll get used to it in the end. I personally don't like how it has been done, but then again I think the whole site has quite of an outdated feel to it.

Yes, I think it’s better than most. Particularly it feels more readable than many dark modes. Also love that it auto detects the system setting on my devices.

Ok cool I didn't know I could choose. I just changed themes. Now that's how I like it. Thanks!!

I wish there was a switch like the forums. On my work Mac it's in dark mode, my home Mac is running Sierra, so it is in light mode. Honestly I prefer the light mode more. The dark mode has some hard to read colors.

I don't think there is on the home page...

No I personally do not like it, but I know there are folks that do. I really think the font color should be something a shade or two darker than #FFF. It's like a dark screen with thousands of flashlights stabbing my eyeballs.

I'm just waiting to be able to turn it off on the home page as well as the forums.

I'm not a fan, but then we have a choice to use it or not, so I opted for the light theme

It's beyond awful. Looks like a message board from the late 90s. Please give us the option to keep the light theme for the home page in addition to the forums. I honestly cannot believe how bad it is.

Someone said there was a way to turn it off, but I don't see any Theme Chooser link...

@arn and @WildCowboy have mentioned that they are still working on the front page theme switcher. It's coming.

Agree with most in this thread, who seem to be the minority overall: dark mode is no bueno. I honestly can't believe they spent time on this. I just can't see the ROI.

There is a "Style Chooser" at the very bottom on the right. It looks like this:

I feel like the only problem I have with it, is that many of the images used in news articles have white backdrops, so you get these white squares on black site background that look awful compared to all white. Perhaps the images should replace those white backdrops with alpha backdrops so that it matches the site style.

Just a step in the right direction...

Images are a bit tricky because many of them are designed to be shown on white/light backgrounds so they look funny on a dark background with poor contrast. It was actually one of my larger concerns with adding a dark mode, but honestly, the white backgrounds don't bother me nearly as much as I feared they would. Still, it's something we'll be looking at going forward to see where we might be able to use more transparent backgrounds.
