A simple yes/no poll.

Unfortunately, the only current options without it is the MBA. And it very much looks like it's here to stay.

Edit: 130+ views and only 7 responses? Folks please take the poll.

Recently got the 2019 15" mbp - first time experiencing the Touch Bar. It doesn't wow me but I like the fact it gives additional functions to what used to be fixed keys. It is a bit weird not having a physical esc key but all in all I like it and think it will only get more useful!

So far it looks like my thinking is in the minority, so I must be missing something about it that most folks like.

I just recently got a MBP with my first touch bar. It's a nice addition but I don't find myself using as often as I thought I would.

Overall, it's ok, not great, not terrible. I think it is a very individual aspect that you either find useful or not at all. For me, a great idea, executed badly.

It’s not as good as it was hyped up to be when it debuted, I feel both software and hardware could use some improvement, but it’s okay for what it is. Usually helpful, after a couple of weeks I got used to it.
Overall, a nice additional, nothing amazing.

I love it. It gives me useful functionalities in every context (writing suggestions are very handy since I'm always typing in 2 languages).

I like it. I prefer it to a non-touch bar model on my mba. It feels more modern too. The durability of it is questionable at this point. That’s the only concern I have.

Yes, I'm using a 2019 MacBook Pro, I use the Touch Bar all the time. I particularly like the fact that the Touch Bar changes depending upon the app you are using, for example Pixelmator Pro, Pages, Final Draft and so on.

If it was more user-customizable, it would be great! But the way it is right now, you have to download something like BetterTouchTool to make it really useful. Wish Apple would do touchscreens instead, but of course, Apple has to go their own way with silly conventions that are contrary to what everyone else in the industry is using.

Can't complain. I'm disappointed it's not as useful as I had hoped it would be but I'm actually trying to use it whenever I can so I can make it a staple for as many tasks as possible without overly complicating anything.

I recently found out you can put the screenshot function in the touch bar, which I think will be a VERY useful feature for me.

In the past I was using the keyboard shortcut but now with one tap, I'm done.

Of course, I understand most people people probably do not use the screen shot feature but as someone who uses it regularly I am pleased :)

Go Apple lol

It’s ok. The implementation could be better but it’s certainly more useful than the dead f keys.

I liked the touch bar since it was first introduced by Apple, but the only thing that kept me from buying a MacBook Pro with the touch bar is that it was $1800 to get the entry level MacBook pro. I bought a 2016 non-touch bar MacBook Pro and it was a really nice computer. I traded it in last month and just purchased a MacBook Pro with touch bar at best buy for $1300 which is a much more reasonable price.

With Apple having brought the touch bar to the $1299 MacBook Pro, I don't see any reason why people shouldn't get it. It is far better than the MacBook Air in terms of display quality and performance.

No. It causes more inconveniences than conveniences. It was way more functional for me when I didn't have to look at the keyboard to lower brightness, volume, etc. I don't use any of the extra functionality it adds because there are just too many positions to remember for each specific app, and it's just more convenient to use the keyboard shortcuts or trackpad. Also, the little arrow to close the app functions and open the normal F key functions is way too small, and I end up hitting the brightness button or an app function button instead way too often.

You have articulated my problem with it. The two things I use those keys for are display brightness and volume. Now I have to look at that bar to do either of those. Additionally, physical function keys require to be depressed before they do anything. If my hand accidentally rests on that area, it does something funny depending on the app I am in, e.g. starting a screen share during a conference call in zoom/Skype when it wasn’t intended, some other funky behavior in word/ppt, etc.

But based on this poll our views are in a minority.

I'd be less annoyed if I just had a physical escape key, or better yet the ability to just option my computers without it.

It's not intrusively bad however, I've turned off all contextual menus. I have Escape, Play/Pause, Brightness, Volume, and Mute. MacOS doesn't make quite as liberal use of the regular function keys so this is hardly an issue. Occasionally, when using Excel, I'll mis-tap the F4 key for instance because it's a bit harder to hit from muscle memory.

I’ve just got the MacBook Pro 2019 13 inch and it is my first time using the Touch Bar. It is not the nightmare I expected it to be from reading the various threads here. It will be very interesting to see what happens with it in the future.

If it was no additional cost? Maybe. Though being a vi user i would definitely miss the physical escape key.

For a $500 AU premium over and above the previous equivalent tier model? No frickin' way.

As a programmer I like the physical keyboard. I do not need look at it and I do not use the touch bar often. However, it’s not too bad as long as I can connect to the external keyboard.
