Do you need to unlock to use an ATT prepaid plan?

Do you need to unlock your iPhone to use a non-iPhone standard AT&T plan? Say from a goPhone pre-paid deal, or just a simple minutes plan with no data.

Or will popping sims in for those work no problem without an unlock?
