No, for most people buying a ticket is buying hope and I could never fool myself into thinking it's anything but false hope.

I have before but it usually is far and in between. I buy the ticket knowing I am not going to win any thing. It is just fun to think for a few days what if I did when. Even then I only buy one ticket. It is only a dollar for some cheap fun.

I give my parents money to buy me scratch off tickets.. I've won a ton of small prizes, $50 once, $100 twice.. I can't wait till I'm 18 :D

I don't play the state lottery (powerball, that sort of thing) but I do scratch tickets once in a while. I think I'm down a few bucks but its pretty close to even. I know a couple people who are up overall just playing the $2 liquor store scratch cards.

You've got a better chance at winning if you play than if you don't
Barely.

Besides, if we're basing this off chance, one has a better chance of being killed in a car accident on the way to the store to buy the ticket than actually winning.

...No, I don't play because I'm certain with my luck I'd get the car accident.

Or get struck by lightning. ;)

IIRC, the odds of being struck by lightning are roughly ten times greater than winning the standard lotto.
