Wondering how many of you plug and unplug your headphones each time you use it? I leave mine plugged in because I don't want to wear out the jack. What do you do?

well no. I barely use my iphone to listen to music. I only use it when i work out.

I've never had an electronic device from the first Sony Walkman, to each generation of iPhone fail from overusing the headphone jack.
I would say just enjoy it and don't worry about wearing it out.

 I unplug em every time. Why would you want headphones attached to your phone all the time? Ive had the same iPhone for two years and the jack is fine,... and dont use the crappy earbuds that came with it. They are still in the box...lol

I've owned iPhones for over two years, have plugged and unplugged headphones multiple times a day, and I've never worn out a headphone jack.

Just use your phone and enjoy it.

if you don't ever take the headphone jack out of the iphone you have to leave the earbud in your ear. thats just silly. i've worn out the rubber tips by the earbuds but thats it and i use mine 5+ hours a day. i constantly plug and unplug my earbuds

I always unplug them when I'm not using them mostly because of the ringer for alerts. But in my history of phones with headphone jacks I haven't worn any of them out from normal use.

The phone will ring as normal. I use the speaker function when I don't have the buds in my ears.

It will ring externally, but it won't play the new email alert externally if headphones are plugged in.

(I'm not sure about the new text alert....... anyone?)

I would just use the headphone jack as normal. I'm sure you can insert and remove the plug a million times and it'll still work.

one thing i did notice on my 3G though was that the plastic around my headphone jack started to chip.

not sure if it was from the headphones or not.

So where do you put your headphones when you're using the phone as just a ....phone? What about when you're texting?

I thought the headphones, starting with the 3GS, were more durable around the jack area? I had problems with the first two iPhones, but my 3GS headphones never had any problems and my new iPhone 4 looks to have the same, more rigid design.

Wow. That's a new one lol to each their own. Enjoy your new iPhone that constantly has headphones plugged in lol

It's your phone, so do with it what you will. But wow lol just wow
