    I need to settle an argument with a friend of mine - a midwesterner, I might add.

    Do you pronounce the "L" in Palm (kinda like Pol-m) or do you leave it out when speaking (kinda like Pah-m)?

    Palm. With the L. Well, kind of. More like Pawm. I'm from Chicago. I would imagine the east coast saying "pom" like pahhm.

    The dictionary actually gives both pronunciations, but the primary one is sans-L.

    I am in Minnesota and we surely pronounce the L.

    Ask me about "Flag" though, and its a whole other story.
    "Flaeg" lol

    I almost say "pahm". No L there!

    There's a sound clip here, but I haven't listened to it.

    That's how I pronounce it, and I'm not Asian. I do however talk proper, like.
