On my iPad, I use it for Wired, but unfortunately there is no iPhone wired newsstand app, so I use it for nothing on iPhone.

I don't really read much on my iPad, but a bit more with the new screen.

Engadget and the Metro (free paper in the UK). I only use it on my iPad, not on my iPhone.

Here is a screenshot off my reading! I know some people don't rate Newsstand but i love it! I had a subscriptions for MacLife, Mac Format, T3 & Stuff prior to the Newsstand so it made sense to get them through the app store as it's cheaper (but i think there is still room to make digital issues even cheaper!) convenience and less clutter.

Nope. Jailbroken on iOS 5.0.1 and have NoNewsIsGoodNews installed to turn off that pointless(read: my opinion) feature.

I did however use to read The Daily on my iPad while it was free.

I did not search first but has anyone noticed the magazines are priced higher if subscribed through Newsstand over Zinio?

No. And thanks, Apple, for forcing me to keep that useless icon on the screen instead of letting me just put it in a folder.

    Free with meaningful content:
    The Economist
    NY Times

    Paid:
Men's Health (its better than you think!)
Fast Company (a year for 12.99 was a steal)

I found a couple not worth getting was PopSci and PopMech...cause their websites are so complete...honestly..why pay? And I wish TED had a magazine, that'd be totally awesome.

I'm currently subscribed to and reading:

    The Daily
    Mad Magazine (love it!)
    National Geography (needs retina support)
    Macworld
    Wired
    Local newspaper

I may be missing one as well, but that's all I can remember.

    Paid:

The Economist - the closest thing to perfection in words, with one of the best reader apps I've ever used.
The Guardian - a little pricey but convenient as I have an iPad Wifi and am often on the underground/on planes.
GQ - cheaper overall than the hardcopy
RetroGamer - great magazine but don't like the format of effectively a scanned image I have to zoom about on.

    Free:

    Metro
    Engadget Distro

I also subscribe to Harvard Business review, Asimov Sci fi and 2600 Magazine by Amazon. Unfortunately these aren't available as apps in the UK (yet).

Gave up on Newsstand - too bad!

The thing that gets me is having to download the publication each time you want to read it. Takes FOREVER - what a waste of time and battery - AND it stops downloading if you go out of the newsstand app, so you can't do something else while it's downloading. If you do go out of the app, the download has to start all over again. Crazy!

In addition, if you are wifi only, you can't take the publication with you - for example on a trip. Once you are out of wifi range - no publication (or maybe just a few pages).

If the publication were stored on the hard drive (perhaps with an option to delete after a certain time), it would be very worthwhile. However, the repeated download time AND the huge price tag for what should be a MUCH cheaper product to produce... it makes no sense. Seems counter productive in getting customer support. I can get a print version of some magazines for $12/year. Digital is $30. Go figure.

Newsstand right now is a pretty looking, yet pointless folder in my devices. I get all my news and articles from Flipboard, Zite, HowStuffWorks, TWiT and other sources, so I don't really need a paid subscription to a magazine.
