But it isn't coming - the current Nectar app even has a specific section in it explaining they have no intention of introducing a barcode to be scanned within the app itself as their main retailers' barcode scanners aren't capable of reading it from the iPhone screen.

Given that there's not much chance of implementing Passbook functionality.

Really? That's poor. They could at least use it to push coupons to the lock screen

edit: they just enabled this in an update

They should have just used NFC or some other type of wireless payment option.

Passbook is pretty useless because most apps that use it already have that information in the app. (So you need to open their app or passbook.. not a big difference to me.)

Overall it's just bloat-ware and not impressive sadly. I was hoping I'd use it.. but I don't.

I live in the UK and considering LTE, passbook, Siri and apple maps I don't see myself upgrading my iphone for a lllllllloooonnnnnggggg time!
I've tried android jellybean and was impressed but not enough to leave what I've purchased on iTunes but my loyalty is being really tested apple.
It seems that instead of offering what's best for the customer, apple seems intent on trying to beat google by offering subpar services.

never and I won't. Before you know it our whole lives will be on one device and it will be easily turned off or exploited in the hands of the wrong people. I'd really just rather not go that direction at all.

I use it for Starbucks, and a couple of other little bits - but I had to turn off the location feature.

It kept popping up saying I'd arrived at Starbucks - which was 300 yards down the road - every 10 minutes or so.

Passbook is actually great. I've used it once or twice and it worked perfectly. Only problem is content. Once it catches on it will be awesome. I personally need wawa to adopt passbook.

I've never even opened the app.

I don't really even know what it does exactly. I guess it is supposed to be Apple's answer to NFC? I don't even know how it works..

I'm not sure what NFC is or how it works. But the passbook feature is smooth and easy to use.

All of 5 vendors use passport in the UK, making it virtually useless. Perhaps if British Airways added it to their app, as well as the large supermarkets, it would be worthwhile. Until that time, it's just not helpful. Again, Apple needs to step up its game with respect to non-US customers.

I use it regularly at Starbucks and Walgreens.

I especially like the ability to pay with it at starbucks, I don't have to fumble with money and deal with change.

It works great with the United app.

Also look on coupons.com there's lots of Passbook coupons that are extremely easy to add to Passbook.

I use it at Starbucks mainly. I have used it about three times for movie tickets and flight. It has worked great so far
