I'm not that much into video games but do recall playing Crazy Taxi while on vacation in Monterey, California back in early 2000 at an arcade next to the boardwalk.

If you also remember playing it, don't you think the iPhone would make a terrific platform for this game?

It would be awesome to play Crazy Taxi on the iPhone, but I don't think it could handle such a game. Crazy Taxi ran at a high frame rate and had pin point precise controls, which is great for a regular game console type controller, not the iPhone's tilt controls.

I loved this game, but tend to agree with the above.

iPhone gpu is quite similar to the dreamcast. The game could be probably be easily potted by Sega. Although probably only the 3GS would handle full graphics.

I think it could be easily done on the 3G, nevermind the 3GS.
Sega have a goldmine of older games(Genesis, arcade and Dreamcast), that would make a killing in the App Store - as long as they were done properly, and not half-baked emulations, like their current Genesis lineup.

I long for arcade conversions/emulations of:
OutRun (both 1986 and 2006 versions.
    Space Harrier.
    Super Monaco GP.
    Afterburner.
    Virtua Racing.
    Daytona USA.
    Sega Rally 2.

    Shen Mue.
    Jet Set Radio.

    etc.

C'mon SEGA. Sort it out!

I always got tired of this game so fast...something about the arcade-style timer.

If done right it would be one of the few games I'd be willing to pay a premium for.

I remember playing it in the arcade and then for PS1 when it came out, awesome game...I would drop 5 bucks to pick it up for iPhone.

I think I played it once at an arcade. I bought The Simpsons: Road Rage for PS2. Basically the same thing, but I liked it a lot better because of the Simpsons tie-in. Same thing for Grand Theft Auto versus some other Simpsons game I had for PS2.

Hmm... The games ancient now, although I only remember my brother playing it on either a gameboy or something...
