Just curious what people do with their iPhone cases after they upgrade their phone every year? For instance last year I got the iPhone 11 Pro and a Pitaka air case ($50-60 case) so do you just consider expensive cases like that a sunk cost and toss it out or do you try to sell them on ebay or something?

Most of my cases are "cheapie" or I just toss them in with the box for whoever I sell the old Phone to. I traded in my XS Max though, so I still have my old Pitaka Magcase flying around. I'll probably put it on the market place here to see if I can at least get a few bucks for it.

If well known brand i sell them on ebay. Have a apple leather on now for $20AUD less than retail, no bites yet.

I usually grab a <$10 case from Amazon, but my last couple of iPhones have lived in more expensive cases, which I never used to do since its kind of a lot of money to spend every year. Still rocking an $8 Amazon case on my 12 Pro Max until the blue Pitaka Mag EZ case is released.

I only toss any that are worn out or broken. The nice ones get sold on ebay, the rest are given to family/friends or donated.

I give it to whomever I give my phone. I usually buy two cases and only upgrade every other year.

I include them in the sale of device, since that is how I upgrade, rather than trading in with Apple or some 3rd party site. I don’t know conclusively if it helps with the sale, but I do like to see perks like a case/charger when buying used. I don’t see much value in selling them. Bundled or individually, they seem to be a hard sell on the MR marketplace.

Sell only unused or hardly used once. I nearly made £200 when i sold 11 Pro cases. I still have two spigen and a torras case left for 11 Pro.

I pass my phones onto my parents, so they like to go through my case collection and pick some out. The rest just gets stored. If I think I can sell them for a decent amount, then they'll go on eBay, but some cases (like Spigen) are already so affordable, that it's not worth it for me to try and sell them.

Usually give them to friends and family and toss the rest. Otherwise they take up room I could use for new cases
