Never gets shut off other than updates and the occasional instance when my battery dies.

For my side,
Never,
except if I want to jail break it.

it's meant to be on all the time,
so even if you want to change the sim you don't have to turn it off.
(Some people still do that believe me :D )

It is just habit for me to turn it off every night when I plug my iPhone 4S into the wall charger.

i'm really surprised at the amount of people that do turn it off so often. the only time mine is ever off is when I'm in a test that i really can't afford any disruptions, or flying or OS update/reboots. other than that, i'm on all the time.

I'll usually shut mine off at night on the weekends since I'm not on call. That way I can sleep as late as I want without interruption. Other than that, it's on 24/7 unless some circumstance requires me to shut it off.

I only turn it off when I'm in an exam, otherwise it has been on pretty much ever since I got it 18 months ago!

Maybe when I'm drunk or something...

Ya never, dont see the point. Saving battery? More like being scared of using battery.

If there is a problem like dropping wi-fi or something else that I can't seem to fix I will restart my phone but that is not really turning it off, that is a reboot. I never turn it off--I use airplane mode if I don't want to talk or text anyone. :)

Smartphones are mini-computers and it's sometimes a good idea to reboot them just so they have a fresh slate to work with.

True that smartphones are computers but there is no reason computers need to be restarted unless they are having issues--some web servers run for years without ever being restarted.

I try and run the battery to zero about once a month. Other than that only when I've updated the OS have i had to reboot it (and one other time when it was acting up. Not bad in nearly 2 years.
As for night time I usually just go for silent (if I remember).
