I'm in college and love cigars. I have one every month or so.

-Padron 1964 anniversary edition
-Rocky Patel 1990 (white band)
-Avo no. 2
-Montecristo Cuba (don't know the model, I've only had two)

I try to keep my purchases to about $16 or less per cigar...

It's funny to me how many people find it acceptable to smoke cigars, but if you smoke cigarettes, you're treated like a leper. Cigars are the nastiest things on the planet Earth. They smell nice, but taste disgusting. I don't get it. Someone please explain to me why you think these things are good.

Define cigar? Clinton kind of confused the issue for me so I just want to be clear. :D
:D

Here is my humidor. I prefer Maduro wrappers and a majority of what you see if Corona size sticks. I am making a move to Toro sticks which are typically in 50 ring gauge versus 45 for the Corona. There are approx 500 sticks in my 'dor right now.
Sweet!

Many years ago, I used to smoke cigars when I was in the field. Cheap ones.

Nothing these days.

People oftentimes smoke cigars with a group of friends who are also smoking them. Smoking them, usually, is much more rare than someone who smokes cigars. Therefore, the great smell combined with the fact that way fewer people smoke them way less than cigarettes is why people don't find it too offensive.

One cigar ever couple weeks or month that you smoke with some buddies and not in the public on a busy street? That's fine, and it's a lot less offensive than someone smoking 20 cigarettes day when you're trying to walk to the store or just down a busy street.

(They also taste great IMO (cigars))

I was a 30/day hard core cigarette man who fortunately gave up about 15 months ago. I think about what the odd cigar would be like for a casual 'hobby' but 95% of me worries that i'll get addicted to them. I do everything excessively.

To each their own, I quite enjoy their taste and aroma. I used to smoke cigarettes and I rarely enjoyed them, whereas a cigar is very relaxing and pleasant.

I won't smoke them in public, though, I know it offends or upsets a lot of people.

Quite simple, each to their own.

Can't say I've smoked a one myself, and I wouldn't know where to start to be honest, but surely thats just like a massive cigarette, deadly as frack™.

im a somewhat regular... i smoke phillies and sweets when im just with the buds or want something after a long day of work. and i guess it makes the treat of a 10 +$ cigar so much better. anyones opinion on acids? i have a 1400cc (blue wrapper) waiting in the wings...
maybe we should turn this into a cigar suggestion thread.

I've smoked a few Acid cigars. To me they are more of a novelty cigar than a regular one. Not that they are bad.

what would you suggest for a good $15 or under cigar?

You might try Rocky Patel's cigars. Depending on where you live they're usually about $6-7 apiece and they're decent cigars if you're trying to upgrade from the 5 for $2 gas station "cigars." :)

High price does not equal a good cigar. Some of my favorite sticks come in bundles of 50 for $48!

A good smoke in the $4- $5 range is a Arturo Fuente 8-5-8 in Maduro.

Partagas with Spanish Rosado wrappers are very good.

If you are in the US and are over 18, I'd be more than happy to send you a couple of sticks to try out.

i am in the us, and over 18... :p. its definitly hard to choose out these, no lie. all the cigars have been under suggestions of some friends, which have turned out to be quite average. are these easy to find, or are they more a specialty item? the tobacco shop in town is not that limited, but the staff is less than knowledgeable. *totally forgot. i quite enjoyed a kahlua cigar.

I love cigars, but I'm not a frequent smoker. Every once in a while when I'm hanging out with friends or having a barbecue, we enjoy a cigar. I don't have any preferences, I'm still experimenting with different cigars.

they may be of little or no quality, but the ones i pick up at the gas station are usually for just passing time, or relaxing while fishing/ bonfire/ poker night. just seeing this thread reminds me of how long it has been since I've actually had a great cigar

C.A.O. is the Best

I smoke cigars all the time, at least 3-4 a week. I do my best to try all different types and kinds, like wrappers and fillers. I have been smoking for about 2 years now and love it. I will note that it can cost quite a bit of money. One way to save money is to check websites that offer Samplers and discount prices. With something like this you will be able to try a variety of cigars and it will be light on your pocket book.

I recommend C.A.O. Brazilia. It is one of there better cigars that they offer. Costs around $6.00-8.00 depending on the size that you go with. I started out wanting to try everything to ultimately find the cigar that I would buy in bulk and smoke regularly. The search is still going 2 years later...

I enjoy a cigar on special occasions and such, and I don't really have a usual. I'll go to a good tobacconist and listen to some recommendations, but I don't go with those sweet cigars like some guys I know.

I used to, but only the first couple puffs is all. Then the rest became too strong. They were Montecristos (sp?) but I could stand the smell of my breath so I've stopped since. Plus I felt like I was wasting them by throwing out over half of it.
