However, this tolerance should go both ways.

Those who prefer to wear a computer on their wrist should keep their disdain for those of us who prefer to wear a standard wrist watch to themselves, rather than announcing it loudly (and repeatedly) when extolling the advantages of the device that they prefer.
100% agree, we have way too much polarization in our lives already...
We are different, and that is a good thing.

I loathe smart watches (…) the crude utility of a smart watch.

Those who prefer to wear a computer on their wrist should keep their disdain for those of us who prefer to wear a standard wrist watch to themselves

How about you try to keep your own disdain for smart watches to yourself first?

(Also, i don‘t think there has been any disdain towards mechanical watches in this thread at all.)

I agree with @the future on there being no disdain for people that wear traditional watches. I don't think anyone here, including myself, has expressed any strong feelings either way. We can leave it at it just being a misunderstanding.

The reason why I started this thread is that at my work, we had a new employee join recently and he was wore a gold Rolex on his first day along with a suit. He stood out because our office is very informal with people wearing suits only for special meetings with executive leadership. He also stood out because of the gold watch because the majority of the people in the office wear smartwatches, either Apple or Samsung. This got me thinking about my Seiko which has been sitting in a drawer for many years. I couldn't even remember the last time I wore it. It's beautiful but just not practical was my point is all.

I went a little nuts with automatic Swiss watches years ago. But once I started wearing an Apple watch, they ended up with less and less use. I have sold a few, and might sell another one or two. Right now I wear one of them about once or twice a year. Otherwise it's my Ultra 2.

Current lineup, in order of most worn to least. While it is easy to run two Apple Watches, it is kind of hard to really run three. I like this combo for now, though. Series 7 green still going strong at 93% battery capacity, series 9 SS gold is my main sleep watch (it has everything, including sleep apnea and hypertension notifications). AWU1 is the daily driver, still at 100% battery life. Rolex is the flashy, special occasion watch. Tudor is the dress watch for work events when I don't want to be flashy. Also the vacation watch sometimes. I will admit recently I have gone weeks without wearing the traditional watches.

As an aside, really funny how great that Series 7 aluminum green looks, and it was the cheapest of them all. I'm gonna keep that one until it doesn't work anymore.
