Do you think Facebook will ever restore Messenger to the main app?

Not likely, especially since they set up a separate app for it and have been running things that way for a while. Anything can happen of course, but doesn't seem likely at the moment.

Will they patch that tweak that allows you to override it eventually?
 
To me, FB is already excessive, but having it broken down into 2 APPs means I just don't read messages. And they pile up. Who cares, I'm no FB fan, I just use it because people I know can't live without it. So FB, if you want me to do more with your services, put them back together.
 
If you can live with the fewer features, their Paper app still has it. I'm a light FB user so it works for me. I wouldn't be surprised if they remove messages from it as well, though.

On the other hand putting it all back together would likely make for a more bloated, potentially even buggier, and more performance hungry single app, which would likely be even worse overall.
