Same. The fact that they tried to turn a help thread into an advertisement totally puts me off as well.

Very happy with my Nifty Drive and 128GB microSD.

Yea I know! And $200 is ridiculously high. Not worth it. I found a Sony 64GB with a 40 Mbps read which I'll probably get. It's about $38. The Nifty with shipping was 42.50 for a grand total of $80.50. I also lost $3.99 shipping on the PNY so my total cost is $84.49.

info on our different models

Just trying to answer questions, not thread-jack...

TheMiniDrive 128gb Flash Memory Modules are much faster than the 128gb microSD card equivalent. Unfortunately, those modules are too large to fit in the 13" Retina. Instead we designed a new chip for the 13" retina, but it is more expensive to make. We don't list it on our website, because we have not been encouraging people to purchase it - however, hard-core early adopters were asking for it.

@ marivaux - Hope this info is helpful.

Enjoy whatever you decide to go with :)

Yes, that's interesting. Do you think it will be a long time before the price drops?

MiniDrive on Retina 13" at 64GB

To follow up on the last repost. We are getting ready to release a 64GB retina 13 integrated MiniDrive. We had to reduce our chip to nearly half its current size for the retina 13" to maintain 128GB and current speed at this size is possible but so expensive through our current chip manufacturer that our product would not be very marketable. We are working to overcome this obstacle and I believe we will soon come up with a solution. Until then we wanted to offer something to the retina 13" Mac user, our 64gb drive for the Retina 13" should be announced sometime later this week. We will post the forum when this new Drive becomes available.

Thanks For your interest

Just thought I'd update- the Nifty came in and I love it. It looks super nice and you forget it's there.

It came with 4 GB which I am using for now, but will obviously upgrade in the future. Hopefully I will get a sale on a 128 GB micro SD at some point.

That's interesting. For those who want 128 gb additional storage for the 13" rmpb, are you planning on (eventually) releasing:

a) an affordable 128 gb version of the integrated drive (I notice that your "early adopter" one is gone from Amazon and

b) a 13" rmbp version of the "original minidrive"--the one's that you sell for about $20?

$100 is too expensive. At $80 it's a win.

Re Earlier adapter

We are still offering it the original ($20 MiniDrive), it sold out via Amazon fulfillment last night, replenished shipment arrived today but amazon takes a couple days, listing should still be available through merchant (us) in the mean time. Original adapter will be available via FBA again within 72 hrs.

We have a retina 13 capped adapter in the works a new different approach than our original capped adapters (very finished while flush with a much better removal option)

And we are trying very hard to solve the 128GB Retina 13 that is both fast and affordable for everyone.

Thanks
