Eventually 4GB of RAM will be insufficient to run future versions of iOS. Lucky for most of us, we'll be sick of our phones before a future version of iOS kills it.
Since operating systems were first "invented" the hardware requirements have always increased with time as newer more bloated and powerful software demanded it.
RAM requirements have always slowly crept up with the passage of time. That's never going to change. How much time ... That's the big question

If the price difference is not significant where you live I would go for the 12 Pro and more ram if you are planning to have the phone for 3-4 years. I currently have Xr and feel that it is running out of ram sometimes.

iPhone pro also has a slightly larger base storage and if you keep it in good shape it might have some resell value when you feel like upgrading again.

It's an extra €200 to go on pro model for a same storage capacity in France.
I don't care about any extra feature on the Pro model this year, I even prefer the look with aluminium of the regular 12 in black and it's lighter vs 12 Pro which is a big bonus point for me since I found the XS a bit too heavy !

So my only concern is: is it worth to add €200 to on the Pro ? I would say no at this stage.

I have preordered the regular 12 256GB version (I use 90GB on my current iPhone and want to be OK for at least 3 years).
200€ just to add 2GB RAM looks a bit overkill given that I will probably upgrade the phone probably in 3 or 4 years. What do you think ?

Hey guys,

I remember that the iPhone 6 aged poorly regarding performance mainly because of only 1GB RAM it's was the last one with 1GB RAM.
I have lived with an iPhone 6 and have done just fine. I am finally upgrading to a 12 Pro. My 6 still works great but being an older phone, more and more apps I want to use can't even be downloaded due to its age. But I've never had any complaints with my trusty 6.

Unless you absolutely need 256gt storage I might still go for 128 pro instead.

On long-term its never bad to have some extra ram even though you might not need the cameras.

I'm more confortable with 256 GB but I could go with 128GB.
Once again if the extra 2GB of RAM did not make the Pro noticeably snappier during the use of my 12 (3 or 4 years I guess) I really don't want to go Pro. It's really the only point I am not sure about !
Not sure paying an extra €200 is worth just for that. I could save those €200 tu upgrade one year earlier or go with a Pro model next Time I upgrade with extra "pro" feature I could really enjoy (everything except camera basically)
