With the coming release of snow leopard, do you think we'll get it for free?

On one hand, if the true dual SLI is going to be offered in snow leopard, it makes sense that apple would give it for free because it would be kind of crippling to the new MBP owners because we wouldn't be able to use the machine to fullest extent on without forking over even more money.

but then again, apple is a company. they want to make money, and really have no obligation to distribute snow leopard for free if they don't want to.

but i'n hopeful. what do you think?

It will be included in new Macs sold after its release. For anyone with Leopard on an existing Mac, there will be a price to upgrade.

Will have to see what kind of improvements it has before I decide if upgrading from Leopard will be worthwhile.

release date

probably depends when its out.. if its out in Jan they will probably charge a small upgrade fee for those who have just got computers.

if it is out in april, i imagine they will let people have it from jan/feb onwards get it for a cheap upgrade.

The company that makes iPod owners pay for software updates?

I highly doubt they'd give the OS away for free as I don't remember them ever doing so before.

You got that right! :D

Same as always, full price unless you bought about 30 days before it actually becomes available.

You mean Up-to-date pricing only for those who buy after the official shipping date announcement.

And those who bought 14-days prior to that will get a hit or miss on being able to get it for a reduced price.

Might have some luck with the 14-day price reduction theory Apple has posted though.

I stand corrected. Yes, that was what I meant. Personally I've never bothered with since since you have to go through voodoo rituals and wait two months to get the upgrade CD. I just get a family version of the OS so I can upgrade all the computers in my house. I'm used to it, it doesn't hurt much anymore. ;)

I'd say the chances of that happening are zero percent. Why would they give out a brand new OS for free?? That's crazy talk. It's not like the mbp cannot function without snow leopard... The only way you're getting the new os for free is if you were to buy your computer after the snow leopard release date. Then you'd either get a computer with the os preinstalled or you'd get the discs in the box, just like it's been with every other os release. But they aren't just going to ship you a copy for free b/c you own an mbp.

you mean not a snow leopards chance in hell... :D

Stop playing with the snow leopards balls ...

or you might just find out which method of warming them up quickly this kitty hates the most, massage or rubbing quickly.
