The technology has been ready

I just can't see Apple pulling this off. The technology isn't ready yet.

Indexed searching technology has been around for years, and it is well beyond ready. Have you used Google lately?

That seems pretty quick... How big of a database did that result in?
Really good question. I'm interested in knowing, too. I'm sure it won't be *huge* though, as Apple wouldn't make an OS feature that required 90% of your HD. ;) It's going to be very long file with tons of text, right? I wouldn't be surprised if it were a few hundred megs, and that's nothing now days. A few gigs would even be acceptable.

Yeah... like I said earlier in the thread, I'm more interested in just hearing, not that I'm worried that the databases are going to be very big or that this is going to be a piece of bloatware a la Windows. :p I'm just curious how big of database file this results in. Obviously it's not going to be huge, because otherwise it would take a while to simply search through the database.

Spotlight looks fabulous and really revolutionary. Does anyone who has it know if you have to invoke spotlight by pressing the icon in the toplight or is there also a global hotkey. If i'm searching alot, i would hope I wouldnt have to constantly be moving tot he top corner.

Thanks,

iBonzo

There's a couple of configurable hotkey options

It does Office X docs. Don't have Office2K4, so can't verify that.

Thank you for checking! :) Well, if it does Office.X documents, that means that the capability must have been provided by Apple as part of Tiger, and not by MS as part of Office. And since you (probably) have some kind of mix of Office 97, Office.X, Office 2k, Office XP, Office 2003 and possibly Office 2004 -generated documents on your computer, it probably does them all.
