So, my 6+ is just starting to show a little age and wear so, I'm thinking it'll make it through next year and then it'll be time for a new phone. I've loved my Plus since I bought it at launch. Now, after buying my iPad Pro my desire to have a gigantic phone has been diminished greatly. It's no longer the device I grab to watch movies in bed or on the plane, which is where I found the Plus really came into its own.

So I went to the Apple Store and started playing around with an SE and it's quite interesting in that somehow the size seems novel and unique. I'd forgot that that was simply the size of the iPhone for several years. Oh how times change. That said, I fell in love with the design. I missed out on the 5s due to a honeymoon period with a Windows Phone.

But, while it seemed very fast and it's reasonably priced as of now, in a year the 6s and by extention the SE will be about the age of my current aging Phone now and I really don't wish to get myself into a Phone I will want to replace after a year due to horsepower. That's not to say the 6 I own is slow but, I bet it's only a matter of time.

I know a surprising amount of people who bought SEs but I have to wonder if Apple will iterate on the budget device.

I think 2017 will not be the year for a true successor for the SE. Once the iPhone 8 is released next year, I can see Apple releasing a smaller version in Spring 2018 (two-years after the SE's release).

There was an article that quoted one of the Apple insiders who is generally correct a while back (can't remember where I read it) that said Apple is not updating the SE until late 2017...

If you used the 6+ regularly, you won't be comfortable using a SE.

Im not uncomfortable using the Plus, however I do find it unwieldy for one handed use. Had to stop texting with one hand for instance and definitely dropped it a few times.

But yeah, that's a definite consideration, especially if I find myself iPadless in the future, however unlikely that is.

Agreed. At least that's what the latest rumors indicate. And it's Apple's more affordable priced iPhone with the sacrifice of not having the latest features. I highly doubt the SE will not see a refresh any time soon.
