I think they will keep it on the iPad Pros for a bit at least. It will likely go away eventually, but not for a few more generations.

No. There is absolutely ZERO need to get rid of it. The iPad is a work machine similar to the MacBook Pro. They both have a headphone jack. Unless they plan for some stupid reason to waterproof the iPad, the headphone jack is here to stay!

If they get rid of it,at least make if dust and water resistance

I’m sure it would certainly improve the resistance with one less port, but I would _never_ Bring my iPad Around water anyways. Dust seems like a non issue, unless dust was trapped inside from the factory. Either way, I don’t see Apple deleting the 3.5 Jack from the iPad anytime soon.

They haven't gotten rid of it on the Macbooks, and presumably they got rid of it for waterproofing on the iPhone, so I'm thinking probably not. But you never know when they might get a bout of courage.

I use external speakers on my MacBook and need the headphone jack.

What do you think?
Here we are fighting over a 3.5mm headphone jack. Someday my kids will say dad what the heck are these for finding an old pair of headphones in my desk someday.
As much a supporter of the headphone jack as I was. It’s been almost 2 years since buying my PowerBeats 3 And BoseQC 35’s

And I have not looked back.

If the engineers need the extra space for a bigger battery or Haptic motor do it.

Many of us have significant $ invested in wired headphones that we want to maintain.

That Doesn’t appear to be the case in this thread reference the Bolded in your post. I think you have others that still very much use the 3.5 m Jack because they have expensive wired headphones and you have others who do not have that investment, that are fine with the deleted 3.5 mm Jack.

There is very little logic for a haptic motor in iPad and I doubt Apple will waste valuable space for something that really isn’t necessary.

It really depends.

If the goal on the iPhone is to have a completely port-less, button-less device, that’s completely wireless, then I would think the iPad will follow suit.

If the goal is just to push AirPods (as sracer suggests), then probably not.

My gut reaction (just My guess) is that eventually you will see a port-less iPhone and the iPad will eventually follow. I don’t think they will make some of those changes on the iPad until they are “perfected” on the iPhone first.

If the iPad is meant for work, I think they will get rid of it on the iPad if/when they get rid of it on the Mac, which won’t happen until new lossless zero-latency low-power wireless technology is invented. For video/audio editing work, professionals need the highest possible fidelity and absolutely no lag, and need to be able to work at least a full 8 hours. Bluetooth does not work for this. Lightning jack headphones will never become standard. And reliance on lightning to [blank] adapters is far from ideal. So I don’t think it’s happening any time soon.
