1. My first iPhone 3GS backlight burned out (had to return it)
2. My second iPhone 3GS had a very yellow tint only on the bottom half of the screen and the plastic didn't line up with the metal frame (causing a sharp edge that I didn't like feeling every time I picked up the phone)
3. My third iPhone 3GS also had a yellow tint on the bottom half of the screen and again, the bezel didn't fit the plastic back and the glass was sunken one one side.

After my third one, I was sick of returning them and I'd rather just go back to the iPhone I love. I don't care that I run 2.2.1. At least I don't have to buy and use an iPhone that I am unhappy with. I'd rather be happy and enjoy my iPhone rather than worry about feeling a sharp piece of metal every time I pick up my iPhone and then looking at a screen that looks like something peed on the bottom half.

My issues were not imagined. If they were, then I'd have the same issues on my iPhone 3G because they're supposedly the same design.

PS: You heard it again. What are you going to do about it?

So it was build quality. Not the phone. The phone itself is better. Had you gotten one that was built correctly, you would be happier.

Please don't get him started. He has a host of imagined issues with "build quality" that we don't all need to hear again.

LOL

I would argue that the fact that you don't have these issues with your iPhone 3G is proof that they were imagined, since it is in fact the same design as the 3GS.

I would argue the fact that you don't know what you're talking about. Just because I have a good iPhone 3G doesn't mean all iPhones are built like my 3G.

My issues were NOT imagined. How can I imagine them? Why did Apple take the iPhones back then? Why am I happy with my iPhone 3G and not the 3GS (since you say they're exactly the same)?

Why can't you accept a fact that not everyone gets a perfect iPhone. I wasn't happy with my 3GS so I returned it. Simple as that. I'd rather be happy with my iPhone and enjoy it instead of being disappointed by it.

I don't care what phone you use. By all means, use whatever phone makes you happy. What I do care about is you burdening us with your obsessive rantings. There is no difference in build quality between the 3G and the 3GS. You're just incredibly fussy and obsessive, and I'm sick of hearing about it over and over again.

You sir, are correct. The iPhone 3G also suffers from the same build quality issues. I didn't get a good 3G until my 4th one. I just didn't feel like going through all that again with the 3GS.

I finally got a perfect iPhone and dammit, I'm gonna keep it.

Until Apple can make them with better consistency, I'll hang onto this iPhone 3G.

Also, I really don't care if you're sick of hearing about it. It's your choice to read this forum and it's your choice to ignore me.

Hopefully we see 3.2 this week.:)

Doubt it. We have yet to see the 3.2 beta.

The beta would be released weeks in time before the official mass launch of the firmware so all the developers out there could make sure their app works with the latest and greatest.

Right. It's far too early to talk about 3.2 if a beta isn't even out.

Really, what is there to add that Apple would realistically add? I'm happy with 3.1.x. The only thing I'm looking forward to is that radio app that they are developing.

so how soon after 3.2 is released do you think there will be a way to jailbreak and unlock lol

3.1.2 took sometime and its still not perfect...let us see how fast these mini geniuses really are lol

Hopefully they add Turn by Turn navigation from Google, like they added Street View in 2.1 or one of those versions. Thats all I'm interested in lol.

I would love this feature, but I'm pretty sure AT&T would block it.

EXACTLY! That and USB Mass Storage Mode, Tethering, FULL Video Out of the ENTIRE iPhone OS (all apps), and ability to store any files on the iPhone so you could finally attach a resume to a job email!

After reading through this thread, I've come to two conclusions:

1)I'm actually favoring what TheSpaz did with his phone, and support it 100%

2)3.2 won't be out until 2010.

Thank you!

I don't think we'll have to wait until 2010 for 3.2.

Although I'm not entirely sure, I don't remember there being a beta for 2.2.

Then why is my 16Gb black iPhone 3G's glass is raised all around and sunkin on the bottom where the dock connector is? I can feel the sharp glass very easily. Why does my brother's iPhone 3G not have those issues, but his has hairline cracks by the headphone jack. His home button is squishy. and mine clicks. Why is my sleep wake button slanted, and his is not? When the hell does mine have a light leak and his doesn't? Both iphones are black iPhone 3G 16GB.

Why?
Why?
Why?

I called Apple today, and spoke to an iphone specialist. he is sending out my 4th iPhone.

1st iPhone 3G Oct 7, 2009 slanted sleep/wake button and dead homebutton

2nd iPhone 3G October 21, 2009 sleep/wake button flush with plastic and then dies

3rd iPhone 3G, November 21, 2009 raised glass very shard. Glass looks like its getting pressure put on it, so it could break very easily when dropped.

4th iPhone 3G... still waiting. it will come tommorow or Wednesday

Don't listen to that guy… he thinks all iPhones are built the same.

What I said is that there is no difference in design or build between the 3G and the 3GS, and you are asking me why your 3G is different from your borther's 3G? I don't know, maybe you got a defective 3G. Maybe TheSpaz got a defective 3GS. All I said was that TheSpaz's phone wasn't defective because it was a 3GS. Believe me, TheSpaz would have found just as many things wrong with any new 3G he got. As, I suspect, would you with any new 3GS you got.

That's exactly the thing. After getting 3 defective 3GSs, I gave up. I got sick of returning them and I WASN'T going to put up with faults.

All iPhones are not exactly the same. I ended up staying with my iPhone 3G because I like it better than the 3 defective 3GSs I got.

If I had in fact gotten a 3GS that compares to my 3G, I would have kept it, but that's not the way it worked out.

The reason why I got pissed off at you is because you said I was imagining it. I wasn't imagining anything... I really wasn't happy with my 3GS and I'm not going to go around being unhappy and $400 deeper in debt when I could spend no money and be happy with my iPhone 3G, but the only way I am truly happy with my iPhone 3G is if it's running 2.2.1.

End of story.

Spaz, the Mods deleted our posts for a reason. Let's honor that by not continuing to beat this issue to death. You know exactly how I feel about you and your 'defective' phones. But I don't fancy a Time Out over the issue. So please, let's leave it alone.

How about you don't tell me that I imagine things? Thanks.

I am agree with TheSpaz. I though that FW 3.1.2 would be fine for my iPhone 3G,... but I was wrong :(.

Now the system is laggy and more slower .

So guys, don't be hard with him, because he is right. And it is not a problem of jailbroken phones, because mine is not. It is because the FW 3.x it is not tunned for the iPhone 3G.

Then, I wonder why Apple directly tells that, avoiding headaches to the users.

I would never udgraded if Apple told me that the FW 3.1.2 is not tunned for my device. At least we should know it. This is like when the games tell you which kind of machine is "minimum" or "recomended" for your machine.

I hope thay solve the problem.

iPhone 3G issues

In reality here's the issues...

First off everyone has to agree (I mean seriously if you don't your kinda stupid).... that the first generation iPhone (iPhone 2G) had the best build quality....

Why? Because Apple didn't rush the first iPhone 2G. The 3G and 3GS were kinda rushed to stores.... IDK but that's just my POV. Since the iPhone 3G and 3GS is cheaper to build they have more of it I guess...

Also I haven't really been in the iPhone scene until recently on August and well I was on iPhone OS 3.0 already so no experience whatsoever with 2.2.1 with iPhones.... But I did have it on my iPod touch back in April 2009.... I updated to 3.0 and no problems.... Is it a iPhone-only problem?

Also one theory some guy named Spaz.... I forgot... sorry said
Um about the thing where Apple just stops supporting legacy devices.... It's partially true but don't all companies do that? At least Apple still supports the iPhone 2G...

For example Microsoft.... back in 2007-2008 they kept supporting Windows Vista heck even their websites made Vista look really attractive.... even though they knew it sucked.... Well actually in Apple's case the new iPhone doesn't suck.... but still you get what I mean

Oh and another thing about the 3.2 update
Someone mentioned Wireless N.... About that if that was enabled in a update only the iPod touch 3G would get that feature... As a recent teardown of the iPhone 3GS shows that it still has the same WiFi chip as the iPhone 3G meaning no Wireless N as you can't get Wireless N without the hardware. Meanwhile the teardown of the iPod touch 3G shows that it has the latest Broadcom Wireless N chip...

So that would mean a 3.2 update or enabling Wireless N would be later on like next year or the next iPhone which is pretty silly.... Seeing four iPhones will kinda be stupid... I wonder what they will name the next iPhone, I have always wondered how they will avoid the 4G naming as they don't want to confuse their customers as 4G isn't available yet.... well limited areas. 3G S was a pretty good name..... but next year.... yup. Next year holds a lot of surprises, not only about the iPhone naming but also features to add or new design changes on other iPods.... which seems unlikely since the current nano is really awesome. Current iPod line really doesn't need any makeovers it doesn't look like they can introduce anything new next year.

ONE THING IPHONE OS 3.2 WILL BRING IS A UPDATED BASEBAND.
-THIS WILL FIX SOME USERS HAVING NO-WIFI GREYED OUT ISSUES (It's a baseband problem)
-IT WILL PROBABLY AGAIN.... LOCK IPHONE USERS. BLACKRA1N GOES BYEBYE LOL. Then Greenpoison or whatever it's name is comes.... to the rescue lol
-Fix that thing with syncing (I tihnk it's with the Exchange thingy...)
-AND ONE BIG CHANGE WILL PROBABLY BE : A NEW WAY THE OS LOCKS AND PREVENTS JAILBREAKING (REPORTS SAY THAT APPLE IS HIRING A NEW SECURITY TEAM REMEMBER?)

Ussually 3.1.3 or something should have came out already to fix the Exchange syncing issues... but I'm guessing they're working on something....

So far 2.2.1 has been so much better than any 3.x firmware (performance-wise). I still enjoy it.

I'm never upgrading to 3.x until Apple fixes it and if they never do, then I'm never upgrading then. 2.2.1 works great for me and has everything I need.

I think that 3.2 will come out this January along with a few new features, it should also improve speed on the 3G. (Hopefully)

I don't understand why you keep typing this same thing more or less every week or so.
