My initial plan was to get two 256GB RealSSD C300s (after they fix the firmware) and run them in RAID 0 in the MacBook pro as I need more than 256GB of storage. But now that Apple is offering a 512GB SSD option, i'm considering that as well... What kind of SSD do you think is in there? I'd love to have a single SSD, instead of having to rip out the optical drive and RAID two smaller ones... but... I'm concerned that Apple isn't going to be using the highest performing SSDs, which they typically haven't.

I wouldn't. In a year, 512GB will be like 400$ and a lot faster. ALWAYS buy from 3rd party

Hell NO! I'd say wait till next year and upgrade your 7200rpm to an SSD.

well... if anyone buys one of these, please do report back! Let me re-phrase: if anyone buys one of these AND opens it up to look at the drive, please do report back!
