I have a M2 Mini and turn it off every night along with all my other computers/laptops. I don't turn off my iPhone or iPad though.

One mini gets shut down; the other (the one with Time Machine & cloud backup, that downloads all my iCloud Photos) stays running.

Coming from a 2010 MacPro at 10p an hour to this M2 Pro at less than 1p an hour I never turn it off (but I do turn off the display) - Do you ?
I don't have a Mac Mini, but I do have a Mac Studio. I turn off the computer when I go out for a long time or overnight. The reason is simple - it's not server hardware that can work 24/7/365 and is designed for such a mode of operation. In this mode of operation there is no overheating, crashes, glitches, hangs, kernel errors and peripherals crashing.I do only rare reboots when it is required by Kaspersky antivirus.

2020 Mac Mini M1 on 24/7/365 (366 on leap year)

I do have a hot corner set to turn off the display.

Everything else is set to 'always on'

It’s bizarre the screen saver time before starting isn’t where the choice of screensaver is in Settings

I would turn off my Studio and 8 bay RAID when not in use if I could as they cost me ~$2.00 a day in electricity costs. Unfortunately I can't due to some backups that are running.

Typically, I shut down my Mac during work and overnight. They are at least six hour long periods, so at least half a day when I won’t/can’t use my Mac anyway.

I leave mine on. Got my M2 Pro mini and Studio Display to replace by 2015 i5 5K iMac. My iMac was left on 24/7 as well and worked like a dream. Soon after I got the mini, I started turning off the iMac when I wasn't using it - I probably use it a couple of days a week, seemed excessive to leave both on all of the time. The iMac has never run slower. It boots slowly and seems to take an age to 'get going' without lag and I get a regular "your Mac is being optimised" message. In 2008, I bought two iMac 8,1s and they were both left on 24/7 until I got the 2015. They were bulletproof and I started using one of them again about a year ago as I needed to use some older software. Runs like it just came out of the box.

"headless" mac mini uptime = 33 days... awwww, must have updated and restarted recently, I was expecting something like 450 days. I never turn it off.

Even 1p an hour is still £6 a month that I can otherwise avoid spending by pressing a button.

I don’t shut off any of my devices I use on a daily basis. If you do this on your Mac it has to do maintenance tasks while you’re using it then you’ll be posting here asking why your new Mac is slow.

If you’re that worried about power usage unplug your TV at night. It likely uses way more power than your Mac on standby

Plus those torrents dont seed themselves and doesnt most stuff fail at the power on / off cycle ?

Outlets in the UK have handy switches allowing us to turn off devices at night without the need to unplug.

Yeah, my M2Pro stays on, unless there's the usual reboot for updates and stuff. As to the cost, it's negligible, I figured it's around $7, our fridge uses significantly more power.

I wish we would have this in the USA. Also I like the fact that you have 220 so that means a regular wall outlet can put out more power. I love how people complain about “level one charging” for electric vehicles in the UK and Europe. If they only knew how much fun it was in the USA with 12 A at 115 V 🤦‍♂️😂
