Really depends on what I'm working. Looking through my gallery of work in Procreate... I'm at almost 50/50 (I have one more portrait than landscape oriented piece), web browsing and books/comics/manga I do in portrait, and most games are in landscape.

The 12.9 was always landscape. As large and unruly as it is in landscape mode, it is even more so in portrait. Way too top heavy to hold it in that fashion. Now that I have switched to a 10.5, it’s much closer to 50/50.

Due to the Smart Keyboard, almost always landscape...

But when I want to take notes etc. I use it in portrait, because it feels like writing on a DIN A4 paper.

Almost exclusively landscape so far, just like my Air 2.

This might change a bit when uni starts again and I have to start reading/marking up PDFs.
FWIW this is 90% of my use case. I use landscape and have another app open in 70/30 orientation (or whatever the ratio is).

Portrait for drawing and reading. Landscape for videos and when using the ASK (obviously). Everything else is done in whichever orientation it happens to be in at the time.

Landscape for the win chuck.

It's in the Logitech slim keyboard case (much nicer than the original create one) 100% of the time but now that you can pop it off and use it in any orientation , that's makes for me to be more flexible. Still not used it in portrait as i have no reason to do so in my daily routine (i use this 5-6 days a week, totally replaced my laptop). I still read books in landscape.

Im actually very surprised by the responses. I wasnt expecting that. I use my iPads almost exclusively in portrait mode unless it is for watching movies.

Wow. Really? Like this fella up here ^ I'm surprised by some of these responses.

For me though, i don't think I've EVER used mine in portrait. Maybe one time to browse through apple news or something, but ever since then and with everything else it's always landscape as if I'm using a laptop or a tv. Like i would never look at a laptop on my lap with the screen all...longways up and down. It just feels weird to me. I like to hold it as if I'm holdin a little tv and i believe multitasking is significantly better in landscape with two iPad Air sized windows side by side

But different strokes. Maybe I'll try using it in portrait for awhile today just because

I’m handing down my first gen 12.9 to my daughter as a way to convince myself I need to upgrade to the second gen. Her favorite app is Club Penguin Island. It is portrait only. I’m pretty sure she will be toppling over regularly.

Landscape except when dealing with PDFs.

I use Smart Case clones with my iPads and the stand is designed primarily for landscape use. I usually don't carry the iPads. They get too heavy with long term use (e.g. marathon reading sessions) so always have them propped up.
