A light hearted post. Just wondering if you all use cases on your iPhones?

If so, what type of cas and what iPhone are you using?

I’m currently using a Black iPhone 7 Plus with the Totallee brand slim case. It’s basically just a sleeve type case. They’re high quality and look great. I’m using the Jet Black case-I wanted the jet black 7 Plus but they were hard to get at the time.

Urban Armor Gear Plasma case in Ash on my Matte Black iPhone 7 Plus and it will be going on my Space Grey iPhone 8 Plus... Way better than an OtterBox...

This has always been my view on the topic:

Millions of $$$ of R&D, endless hours of design work, countless prototypes, over 10 years of experience...all covered up by a $50 piece of plastic or cheap leather.

I exclusively use an Apple leather case when I'm specifically going somewhere where cosmetic damage is likely - the gym, mainly. Otherwise, naked - the way the product was designed for.

Cases make me wince, but I understand the necessity for certain lifestyles / jobs!

Always had a case but really dislike screen protectors. So in my past iPhones, I got a Spigen case - very similar to the Apple silicone cases but fully protect bottom of the iPhone. Also liked the raised edges on the front that at least kept the screen from touching a service. When I got the iPhone 8 (still deciding on the X) I tried the case you have but while I liked the small/thin form factor, did not like the lack of any protection for the front. First tried a Zagg plastic protector then switched to their Glass X one. Felt that the look of the screen - and at time some of the swiping gestures - were not what I wanted, so removed the Glass X and put back on my Spine case. Shall see what I do when I change to an X.

For all the reasons you mentioned I've never used a case. The phones are designed for use without one and just feel better that way. Just got a X and will not use a case for it either. Never dropped or scratched one but I do buy insurance just in case.

Well, I wish I could be like you. However, I’m a student and a 50$ case is a really cheap insurance compared to having to replace ie the screen.

I personally have a Otterbox symmetry case on my 7 which I’m really satisfied with. No screen protector though, scratches doesn’t really bother me and the case has a gianormous lip so I’m pretty safe.

And since I’m no superhuman who never drops a phone the case has definetly saved my butt 10+ times easy. During the 14 months I’ve owned it that is.

In conclusion, I wish I didn’t have to wear a case. But I do and I’m still happy about it.

I use the brown Apple leather case which I think doesn’t make the iPhone X look cheap.

I used to use a heavy duty case and screen protector on my 6s plus. When I went to trade it in at Apple in pristine condition the genius said they strip out the electronics and melt down the aluminum shell so there really wasn’t a point in the end. The Apple case I have protects it enough from catastrophic drops but I have AppleCare on it anyway.

I don't drop phones, but I've come to like ultrathin bumpers for grip traction and protection against abrasion. I use a black TOZO PP bumper for my Space Gray X. It's only 0.35mm thick, so the phone looks caseless on casual glance, and feels caseless aside from the soft-touch texture.

Got the Apple brown leather case when I got the X, made it look classy but was too slippery for my hands. At my age, I have lost some of my grip to arthritis, so I could not trust myself to hang on to it. Took it back and got a Tech21 case, but not liking that one very much because the lock button on the right side is hard to press. Should have gone back to Apple silicone case like I had on my 6S.

My iPhone X is in Apple silicone case. Never used cases in the past but this year being Glass back I am little bit concerned so don't want to risk breaking Glass.

I am using otterbox symmetry clear case for my iPhone X. I love this case as it is a great quality drop protection case and the clear back exposes the beauty of stunning silver color for others and my admiration.

With that mentality in mind I normally use my phones without any cases but got myself a bumper for the iPhone 8 Plus. It’s too big for me to comfortably hold and chances of me dropping it is too high.

You might reread his last sentence, no snark on your part needed

Does it have a lip on front and back so screen or back of phone doesn’t touch surface when laying down? That’s my biggest concern is scratching it on desk etc. can’t carry pillow for my phone everywhere;)

I never used a case on my 2007 iPhone, but that design was very forgiving.

Always had a case on my 3GS trying to protect the black glossy plastic back which still got scratched from grit that migrated inside the case. :(

The 4S, beautiful iPhone, wore a boxy rubber case which I hated, but knew the edges of the glass front and back would be in peril otherwise.

iPhones 6, 7, and X all wore/wear the Apple leather case. I'm very happy with the fit, the look, how it protects the inside, and how it prevents me from having to navigate a saturated market of other cases. Yes, it's slippery when brand new, but it gets less slippery with use.

Another case thread…

Ok.

No cases. Don't use them, don't like them. No cases.

My 6s+ looks the same as the day I bought it.

It's been dropped of course, but I generally manage to hang on to it and if you've read any of my posts in threads like this you'll find that I am a propnent of situational awareness when it comes to my devices.

I’ve always gone naked, but the iPhone X is so expensive, and perhaps so delicate, that I wasn’t sure I dare risk it.

It is an outrage to buy a case other than one made by Apple, so I bought the black silicone one. To my great satisfaction I honestly think that this case makes the iPhone X look even better than it does naked. Plus it adds an extra tactile pleasure to the joy of using the phone.

Screen protectors are works of the Devil and I will have no part in them.

I've been using a case on my iPhones since the iPhone 6. It's mainly because the aluminum back of the bigger phones make them feel very slippery. The glass on the iPhone X is an improvement, but then there's the price of course. The thing costs an incredible amount of money, and I would never risk getting a scratch on something so expensive.

It's pretty sad though, considering how beautiful the phone looks. :p
