Like if they're a model, for example, and you know them, but don't have a picture of them that you took, can you just use a photo of theirs from online (assuming no law is broken or anything; I'm not a lawyer)

Having pictures of contacts is not weird. If you want pictures, use pictures. No need to create a thread asking the obvious.

Ok bc I know if I was friends with someone on social media and knew them and they used my photo to add to their contacts from my social media I wouldn’t mind nor would I really care. I’m in U.S. and not a lawyer so I don’t know the legality of it though. And from a social perspective I hope it’s acceptable and not weird or something.

If you “know” someone from social media then they probably “know” hundreds if not thousands of people like you the same way. Having a picture associated to a contact in that case simply makes sense.

My old Windows phone automatically synced contact photos between people and whatever social network accounts you have

I don't use it now because... I don't care

Ok was just asking if it was creepy or not. I don’t know the law either am not a lawyer (live in USA).

But yeah i was wondering if someone has a lot of people in their social network, many of them models or actresses if it was fine to use a picture or not from their social media or elsewhere.

I just don’t want to be like “hey let me take a photo of you *smile*”

OR

Act like an immature guy like “SELFIE TIME” lol

That’s probably more weird, socially.

It doesn't really matter. The option to use photos for contacts is there. Where you get the photos for that is up to you, assuming you even choose to use that feature to begin with. That's pretty much all there's to it. Rather straightforward.

You know what's really socially weird?

This thread.

I was thinking the same thing. So odd. Obviously, if adding a photo to a contact is a feature offered by iOS, people will use it... I'm just wondering how many models this guy has in his contacts that he doesn't know well enough to know if they will mind him having a photo of them, and if that's the really creepy part of this thread.

Too bad your contact pictures just don’t automatically update from social networks any more. Lame.

When was this a feature for iPhone???

Wait a minute

Wouldn’t it be creepy if you DID know them well?

If a guy DOESN’T know them well then what difference would it make bc they probably aren’t even going through his phone anyway.

Of course if one DID know them well then they should have pictures.

But at the same time do you just say “hey what a nice dinner let’s take photos!” Or just play it cool like it’s no big deal and you aren’t one their many fans? And just act like you’re used to hanging out with high profile people and it’s no big deal?

Idk it’s confusing to say the least for me
