Do you guys use Raise to Wake on your iPhone X? Coming from an iPhone 6 I didn’t have that feature but I had seen it on my friends’ newer iPhones and I always thought it was a nice feature. But now that I have the iPhone X every time I grab it to pick it up I touch screen even without wanting to and it turns on, so I ended up disabling Raise to Wake. I felt it was turning on all the time.

I’m just curious to see what you guys have set it up to.

Raise to wake.
Rest finger to open.

No way FID is as reliable and as fast.
Wrong thread. This poll doesn’t apply to old iPhones with old tech, and nobody needs to go on about how Face recognition is slow (it’s not). Smh.

I find that raise to wake is adequate, but I keep tap to wake on to keep all my options open. Both work perfectly.

Going to have to disagree. Face ID is easily as fast if not faster than Touch ID in real world use. Biometrics or more than just unlocking your phone after inactivity.

Especially when it comes to using biometrics to access banking apps, saved passwords or accessing notifications. My phone is often unlocked before I would have moved my finger to Touch ID.

My phone is unlocked using fingerprint while pulling out of my pocket, coat or off the desk. It works just fine and is amazingly fast.

Amazing how you ignored the many other uses of biometrics that I outlined. I specified that biometrics are used for more than just unlocking a phone after it was shut off.

But good for you and your Touch ID.

I only use tap. I've never used raise on any phone because of battery concerns, maybe unwarranted. But I never found tap to be too cumbersome. This thread has made me consider trying it out different combos to see what would work best for me. BTW, what kind of loser would I be if I went into all the other non-iPhone X threads and offered unsolicited, irrelevant opinions about why the X is better than all other phones? That would be next level sad.

Touchy.

I don't use it for paying for things. But the same speed is present when unlocking apps. Touch ID is just as fast, if not faster IMO. In your opinion it's not.

You wouldn’t want to make an assgardian of yourself. ;-)

Think that M2 chip along with the aceromiter and beromitet etc all work together to make these features very efficient. I’m getting what I consider to be great battery life. I would encourage you or anyone to play around and see if it suits them also.

Raise to wake has always been my go-to but tap to wake is nice when the phone is lying on my desk or the couch and I’ve just come back from the bathroom or stretching my legs and I want to see if I missed anything without having to pick it up.

Is it possible to turn off Tap To Wake, or are people just not tapping.

I do have Raise To Wake on but occasionally find I stil have to tap.

Definitely both tap and raise. Especially nice coming from a 6. I do screw up the raise thing a lot though because I raise my iPhone X upside down often enough

Had to turn it off on my 6S (and now 8) because it's just constantly lighting up all the time. It's annoying in general plus it also makes it impossible to use the flashlight at night.

Can't answer the poll since it's not part of my unlock procedure, but I can't imagine turning it on even once I do get an X.

I use tap or raise to wake, depending on which one makes more sense for the situation. Never use the power button to unlock.
