I always use the easiest installation ones.

I use magnetic wallet cases (without any latches or buttons). They give you full 360 degrees of coverage without having to put anything on the screen to get in the way. The case also doubles as a stand and folds perfectly flat on its back without any arch for typing. I've been using a few of these over the years on my 6+ and it looks perfect to this day. No scratches on the screen. I've dropped my phone over a hundred times since 2014 and it looks like day 1.

My family also has iPhones and they each have their own things like full on Otterbox Defender, to a combination of rugged case with a screen guard, and other 360 cases with a magnetized latch. I still prefer my case style the best. I never run into problems with dust bubbles and rainbow effects that develop with other cases. In some cases with other cases, it goes away with some effort, while with others, it can still linger on permanently. On my iPhone, I simply wipe the screen and its perfect again.

I haven’t really thought about it, but I guess I’ve been using a screen protector on every other iPhone I’ve owned:

3G - No
5 - Yes
6 Plus - No
6S Plus - Yes
7 Plus - No
XS - Yes
11 Pro - Yes

The 11 Pro broke the cycle because it seems to have the most scratch-prone screen of all the iPhones I’ve owned.

A screen protector is the first thing I put on a new device simply for the fact that I like to keep my devices in pristine condition throughout its lifetime. I do NOT like scratches, no matter how minimal, so I always get a protective case and put on a screen protector to give me a peace of mind. Plus, it does not tamper with my use on the device or make the quality any worse. Still as perfect as it would be without it.

Yes I’ve always used screen protectors on every phone I’ve ever owned (even when I was using android until 2011). I now use the 3D screen protectors to cover the notch and majority of the screen on my XS Max. I hate scratches on the screen and I don’t want the glass on the back of my phone to shatter, so yes I use a slim clear case.

Nope, just a case.

I see a lot of neuroticism in regard to scratches on a phone. What a strange disorder to have.

That's a little immature to call it a disorder. Some people like to take care of their things and I can't hate on it. ?‍♂️

I used to be very paranoid about minor scratches, but I’ve eased - haven’t used one for over a year now & the hairline scratches in certain light don’t bother me.

I ditched the screen so that I could place my phone face down with the case i’m using - it has a very low front lip & the 0.3mm screen protectors would be too close to uneven/dirty surfaces, so I took it off + the reduced thickness of the phone made it easier to use & grip in the hand, so I was more confident of not dropping it.

There are those of us who sell their phones to offset the upgrade to their new phone. So yeah, I want my phone to be as scratch free as possible, so I can get a higher return.

This makes sense because there is a practical reason for it.

I just don’t understand the obsession with keeping these things scratch free. It’s not a ‘65 Shelby GT, it’s a mass market consumer product.

I get where you're coming from, and here's another train of thought; whether it's an iPhone or a Shelby, the iPhone can be an expensive purchase for some and they may want to take care of it as best as they can.

So with all the money I’ve made over the years selling phones, not to mention all the websites like Gazelle, Swappa, eBay and the likes, that sell used phones, no one wanted them? Glad you cleared that up for me. Thank you.

Well, ok. Since you put it like that. I bought a 2 year old phone 2 months ago, and I’m now tied for it for two years. So when I’m done it will be a four year old phone. Assuming my phone will be in good to excellent condition, would you buy it? Probably not. Now if the phone is only a year or two old, then sure I’m sure it would be easy to flip. But since I don’t buy my phone out right I can’t just do that.
