any BT headset would work?

Yeah, I'm using a cheap (and pretty pants) one I got from Aldi. Works perfectly in OS X, but the sound quality's not brilliant as you might expect. :(

But to answer the question, I do use it, but I find it mixed. For computer to computer calls, I use a USB microphone and my iPod's Sony earphones, and it works perfectly. But when I Skype Out, everyone complains that they can't hear me. Can't understand it.

nobody i know uses it, let alone heard of it...

ichat sucks for a/v confrencing.. so i don't use them.. kinda depressing now i think about it..

I use it to talk to a good friend in Japan using Skype-to-Skype. It works really well. I also use SkypeOut and have never had any issues. Both local calls and calls to Japan have worked fine. I just use headphones and the mic built in to my PowerBook. I have been thinking about getting one of those USB Skype handsets. There's one that just came out for the Mac.

I use skype-to-skype and find that the voice quality is better than telephone or calling cards. Note that it really pays off to have a good head set if you use it often. Works great when you want to talk to your significant other during extended holidays for free :D The only problem I ever have is that it often disconnects during peak hours.

Never tried Skype out but probably will do sometime.

I have just set up a usb handset with my Skype. I didn't think I would be able to use it to control Skype, but I found a great piece of software, Skypemate, that lets me dial from the handset, as well as move through the different Skype screens.

I've been using it to audio chat with PC users using the mic on my iSight. It works fine, with surprisingly few feedback problems. I'm very interested to see if there will be a good Mac version of the Skype Video, because that would solve all my cross-platform chat issues.

Or finally convince a few people to get AIM 5.9, whichever happens first.

I would like to use Skype

but my expensive Powermac didn't come with a mic input,

also no bluetooth...

And I don't have any friends that would understand how to use it.

You don't need a microphone input or Bluetooth--a USB-based headset will work quite well.

I noticed that the Skype client has been updated. Get it while you can.

I really like Skype. It's free, cross-platform, and very reliable. The new version is even better, although I'm waiting for the new video version (now available for Windows). I also use Skype to make cheap calls to my ex-girlfriend in France.
