Do yoy use the “back tap” feature?

iPhone 12 PM:

Double tap - Focus selection (shortcut)
Triple tap - LEDit app (shortcut)

iPhone 13 Mini:

Double tap - Focus selection (shortcut)
Triple tap - Find my iPhone app (shortcut)

I tried it a long time ago, when it first came out. I kept activating it accidentally (iPhone 11).

You've just reminded me that this feature exists; I may give it another go to see if it's improved.

EDIT: Seems improved (or I've just been lucky so far). Double tap set to open the control centre and Triple to run one of my shortcuts. If it stays working well I may swap the Double tap for toggling the torch.

Nope. I've tried it in the past, but my problem is that I am uncoordinated enough to do a tap while holding my phone in one hand. I need to use two hands for it. And I'm really not into gestures that require the use of two hands to execute.

My old HTC Touch Pro had a tweak called 'Flip to Lock'. Did exactly as it sounds. You flipped the phone in your hand and it locked. Flip it the other way and it unlocked. If Apple ever offers that, I'll be all over it.

EDIT: To be clear about the 'Flip to Lock' part, this was basically rotating the phone, not like literally tossing it in the air and flipping it then catching it. Ie., rotating it front to back.

Back when I had an iPhone I would use the triple-tap on the back as a toggle to set screen brightness to the lowest possible level for nighttime reading in bed.

I didnt have anything double tap or triple tap enabled but I tried and could do those taps with one hand.
Still, I can hardly find any use of it. But previous comments suggest shortcuts can be used. Maybe one day I can explore more ways to use this feature, before Apple takes it away “to make room for other sensors”.

Yes, but I forget about it often because it doesn’t work well with the silicone case. I started using the feature again with the transparent case, but the plastic started to crack after a day, so I went back to the silicone one.

Personally no, used it for screenshots when it first came out but that got old quick when I ended up with countless random screenshots saved!

It may be worth giving it another go.

I've had no false taps since turning it on a week or so ago, Maybe because I'm caseless (iPhone 11), but I think they've improved it.

I am a Percussionist, at-heart, and my tippety-tap habits led the back-tap to become untenably frustrating.

I'd rather continue to let my fingers do their thing, than favour the shortcut(s) ;)

I had it enabled for flashlight but it would always turn on when I didn't need it and when I did need it, it never worked.
