I have an iPad 2 on the way and I've bought a folio that supports the magnetic auto-wake feature. I intend on using it, but I want to know if other people use it in their daily usage too.

I use it. I would only turn it off if I'm going into a situation (like travel) where the possibility of others getting my iPad goes up. I then add the password protection, too.

All the time if u use a case man

Really no way to avoid that

Thats like asking if we breath air

Yes man we do

Get it together man!

YES!! This is such a useful feature, very nice innovation. I have mine set with an unlock code so I usually just lift the cover off and it goes right to the unlock screen.

I use it all the time. Though more times waking it up than putting it to sleep. I still have the major habit (from the phone and the iPad1) to use the sleep button before I even close the thing. Then again, I haven't had my iPad2 long, it'll just take a little time for me to get used to the idea of not using that button.

That was something I was wondering about: if it goes directly to the unlock keypad when a passcode is set. I was gonna wait till my iPad gets here to test that, but thanks for inadvertently confirming that for me.

Yeah. It does that. I tested that myself, just to make sure the wake up doesn't bypass user locks.

For convenience, it bypasses the whole Slide-to-unlock virtual switch and goes right to the iOS desktop when opening (if you don't have a passcode lock on it). If you do, it bypasses the slide-to-unlock straight to the passcode thing.

i use auto-wake/auto-off all the time...i purposely looked for a case that supported it.

not having to press a physical button translates into less potential [physical] things that can break on the ipad.

Then I guess my home button will experience less usage too since I intend to enable the multitasking gestures. Five finger pinch will bring me back to the home screen, and I feel like that'll be more convenient since I'm already using the touch screen.

Every time I use the iPad, in the company I still have an iPad 1; miss hpthat function on that one already.

And apps like SmartTub would not be funny without that.
