Do you use Word or Pages for your Resume and if so why? I use Pages and was thinking about switching back to Word, but that would require that I use OneDrive which I don't want to do so I will stick with Pages. However the only issue I have with Pages is when I want someone to edit my Resume I have to submit in PDF format because everyone assumes everyone is running Word.

These days the majority of job hunting is done on indeed so I am glad Pages can export to PDF and Word for online resume submission.

It sounds as though it doesn't matter which document editor you are using, as you ultimately export as either Word or PDF...?

I certainly wouldn't be sending my resume to anyone as a Pages document. That's just asking for trouble.

if if you want to submit and that compony( any still use) Microsoft Office! If they get a PDF it usually gets triangles into the trash bin!

I have to respectfully disagree with you, most digital resume submission sites I have seen/used, both individual companies and employment sites, ask for either type .DOC or .PDF, to imply that a PDF is somehow a foreign file type that no one uses is just silly. The only time you would run into trouble, such as with Pages in native format, is if you submit a resume in a format that the company cannot open, I challenge you to show me an average corporate computer in 2020 that cannot open a PDF.

In all honesty, PDF is a much better and safer way of sending a resume. Unless a company specifically asks you to submit a word file, PDF works pretty well.

However, if you have to compare Pages and Word, the latter is more popular and compatible across different platforms.

Pages performs a lot better than Word on my laptop, so I use that for whatever I can. If I know I need to submit something in doc format, I'll put up with doing it in Word.

Are you sure that you would have to use OneDrive? You can store Office documents on iCloud or any other cloud storage service, I'm quite sure. I'm not saying that you must use Word, by all means do what you wish. But I'm not sure that it's true that you'd have to use OneDrive.

Word Mobile requires one drive

I use Pages for all documents I create, including my Resume. While it doesn't have all the features of Word, Pages has all I need, I find it easier to use...... and it comes with MacOS these days. I did buy iWork for my Mac Mini back in 2009, with no regrets, but it has been part of the package with any Mac since about 2013. It is one of the benefits that comes with buying a Mac.

By establishing Word as the word-processing standard, then making it a subscription app, it is now a nice little earner for years ahead.... nice one Microsoft. Dunno why it has not copped the title "Microsoft Tax".

Fortunately Pages documents can easily be converted to Word when required, such as to attach to an e-mail. And most Word documents open OK with Pages.

I do have an older version of Office on the Mini, which works OK the odd time I do have to use it, something I tend to avoid.

Yes I have the Office 2019 subscription and use Word half the time and Pages the other half. One gripe about Pages is that the documents (such as a letter or Resume) that lack graphics use up more space than Word files. I have no idea why. However when my new MacBook Pro arrives it will have 1TB of space so this wont be as big of an issue.
