Hello,

I recently picked up an iPad mini 4.
I’ve always had cases on my iPads.
Both my iPad Air and air 2 had the official apple smart cases.
Since I wasn’t sure if I was going to keep the iPad or not, I didn’t buy a case right away.
I am now thinking about getting the apple silicone cover and Smart Cover combo as it is heavy discounted at the moment.
But at the same time, I am enjoying using the iPad without any case on it.
It is light and feels smaller in hand.

But since I am kind of ocd about scratches, I am afraid to keep using the iPad without getting the cases for it.

So I ask if anyone here runs their iPads naked and how are they holding regarding scratches and other scuffs?

Cheers!
I use my iPad Mini 2 naked and it has a few scratches on the back.

Really depends on how you use it. My iPP 11 travels with me daily and has completely replaced the need for a laptop. I have a Logitech keyboard case which works fine. YMMV.

Prefer only smart covers on my iPads. Nice to hold and covers the front when not in use. Had a smart case on the air for a period but it was not as a good feel as just the cover so got back to using that and gave away the cover.

I have an iPad 2 and iPad Air and haven’t used a case or cover for either one when they are in my hands and being used. However I have vinyl ($2 fake leather style) envelope cases for both that I use for storing the iPads and often use the cases when carrying the iPads between rooms. The cases have cushioned the iPads several times when I get clumsy and drop them.

I like using the iPads uncovered, they have a few very minor chips on the edges, caused by bumping into things like metal-frame eyeglasses, table lamps etc. No scratches on the display or back.

I just got an iPhone 8, has a glass back, nice, but slippery. I really like using it caseless. But I know it’s very likely to be dropped and severely damaged, so I must get a case and maybe AppleCare.

Naked, with the Smart Keyboard cover. Too nice a device to use any other way.

Mine’s got the tiniest scratch on the top/back edge by the camera bump, I took it out of its case after owning it for a week or so and set it down on our kitchen counter and that was it, somehow. Not really arsed to be fair but I keep it in the Smart Keyboard case now unless I’m showing off how thin it is to someone.

My ipad gen 5 has some scratches. It practically has never left home but managed to pick up some anyway. I usually put he smart cover between it and a surface but it has happened that I forgot and then some time later I notice a scratch. So tiny debree caused it.

My Mini 5 is mostly in a case because I bring it everywhere. I think all cases more or less are in the way and hinders the convenient one-hand grip you can do with a Mini, but I really want it to stay near-mint for a while.

Of the iPads I own that I do not have in a Zugucase...the inexpensive minimalistic TPU clear cases off Amazon protect the back but don’t add bulk or weight. Combined with a glass screen protector, I’m good to go.

11 inch iPad Pro no case and no scratches! Store it in neoprene sleeve when not used . Love the design too much to cover it up.

I have the iPad Pro silver with the new smart keyboard (front/back protection). Still looks brand new. I only take the iPad out to hold by itself on some rare occasions. The front protected is a nice addition from the previous keyboard.

Apple Smart Keyboard most of the time, although when I’m just browsing or not doing anything keyboard-intensive, it’s naked. And it travels almost everywhere with me, everyday to work, it’s almost always in my purse or backpack.

No scratches, nothing. Also none on my 9.7” iPP or 10.5” iPP, or any of my previous iPads!

I’ve had my Pro for months now. Bought a Smart Keyboard case to protect my expensive new investment. I usually use my Pro on my lap at home, naked (the iPad, not me) so the Smart Keyboard has sat on a shelf gathering dust. I’m not particularly careful with how I handle my iPad but it has held up great, no scratches, dings or scrapes. (now, if Apple would just fix the screen freeze all would be right with the world).

Yes using an iPad without a protection front and back is the same as getting exposed to modern day adult virus (If you know what I mean) There is no substitute for a good cover front and back it you wanna keep your iPad scratch free. Yes using it with care also helps ! But without any case ot cover only God would save you !!

front and back condoms?

I tried to use my old iPad Air 2 and now mini 5 naked and found them too slippery, so I have a skin on it.

I enjoy using the device as it intended to with the design so I’m not willing to put a case on it.

I used to have the iPad Pro 10.5 inch naked but then I got the 12.9 2018 pro and I got the Zugu case its a brilliant design the way it had all these levels of viewing options and when you close it its pretty much flat so it doesn't take up much room
