Do you use your iPhone 4 as a flashlight?

I prefer to use a flashlight as a flashlight since it works a million times better than a phone. I have a little led flashlight on my keychain works great and doesn't drain my phone battery or wear out my phones flash.

Used to use Flashlight by Surpax but it doesn't have instant on (nice looking icon though) so I switched to Flashlight by Henry Asseily, both free.

Use it on a daily (or should that be nightly? hmm, i do sometimes use it in the day too..) basis, always handy to have. I use the 'LED light for iPhone 4' app by Jason Ting simply because it has the best icon (like a negative version of the camera one so looks good side-by-side), it's simply labelled 'light' on the homescreen and it has the cleanest UI!

in my opinion, springflash needs to be updated so it'll work even if the phone is in sleep mode. I mean, it works if you put the phone to sleep and use activator right away to enable springflash, but if the phone's been sleep-mode for more than a few minute, it won't work.

and having to turn on the screen, which is generally bright to begin with, to turn on flash is kind of redundant imo

I use activator and springflash and have mine set to press and hold home button and it seems to work fine, even when in sleep mode for a while.

Yes I do. Using the flash is so much better than the craptastic apps you had to use for the 3GS

Well I hvae two "flashlight" apps installed, Flashlight and Night Cam. I almost never use them though-one of the reasons was to read the bus schedule late at night when it's poorly lit. However I have since bookmarked (with an icon on my home screen) the webpage of my city bus company - it has a mobile friendly version - and it's usually more up to date than the printed version. At home I have some proper flashlights so no need. Nice to have in an emergency though.

My iPhone is a terrific flashlight.

Perhaps the next model will have a phone that works as well :)
+1

The flashlight is just as bright as any phones flashlight including a 5 year old blackberry...

But my iPhone 4 is perfect for me. With a case that is :D

I had the chance to use the flashligt app and it works great. Much brighter than my pocket led in a pinch. The only downside is that the flash eats the battery rather quickly.
